I bought this tonight thinking VAM 34 possible 34A. Will not know until it is in my hand. Elite clashed Morgan book was my reference. Your opinion is welcome.

I note the diagonal clash mark extending from the top of Liberty's neck, but do not see any evidence of letter transfer, which is the main qualifier for VAM 34A.

Looks an awful lot like VAM 39 to me.
    When in doubt, don't.

I'll have to concur with DH, but I'd leave the "awful" out of the description. Nice looking VAM 39!image

And one more vote for nice VAM 39. VAM 34 is almost always prooflike. I don't see evidence of the clash on the reverse above the eagle's wing. The clash you see on the obverse is probably from the VAM 41B or C, which was struck before the VAM 39. If there is a letter, then the VAM 39A would be the early die state of the VAM 39, and the later strikes with the clash worn or polished off the obverse die would be VAM 39. Curiously, if there's an even later clash that also transferred the same letter, Leroy would probably also call it VAM 39A, even though it would have been out of sequence with the first 39A. A clash on the reverse would help differentiate the two.

Anyway, let us know what you have when you get it. image
