Does anyone here collect circulated 20th century coins?

Just wondering.

I do add to my circulated Buffal nickel collection periodically. I also help my son with his Jefferson collection by going through the occasional bank roll.

Most of my sets that i completed years ago are all circulated. I do not collect them anymore but i have retained them. A lot of people here collect barbers, walkers, lincolns, mercs, buff nicks, etc in circulated conditions.

  • The YN fruit of my loins does, so I help him finance that. The odd 50 and above for the 7070, thats it.
What do you think, Mr. Bigglesworth?

Yes, my complete sets of Merc Dimes, Washington Quarters, and Franklin halves are mostly circulated. I also have a 20th century type set of mostly semi-key dates in circulated condition.

I collect circulated clad dimes and quarters by varieties.

There aren't many that are worth much but it's a fun collection I can keep at home and makes a great reference.

I have some MS and PR Buffalo Nickels, and a bunch of MS Mercs and PR Roosevelts
  • Apart from some semi-key Barber dimes, they aren't the coins I've spent a lot of time hunting for. Of course, I always get excited the first time I see a new release in circulation and hang onto it for at least a while.

  • standing liberty quarters are real nice is XF and AU grades. I collect them in upper circ grades

Walkers and Mercuries in a Dansco book.

Both sets are complete, but I'm still trying to upgrade some of the earlier Walkers to original and problem-free Fine range; it's harder to do than I expected.
    When in doubt, don't.

Dennis: I tend to prefer collecting the higher grade AU to Mint State larger-sized Silver & Gold coins, because I love their cartwheel luster!! image

I sort of like collecting the old albums themselves for some reason. I really only put coins in them to weight them down some. image
