Rick Hennessy Buffalo Nickel set

caitlincaitlin Posts: 858 ✭✭✭
If you want to see an awesom set of Buffalo Nickels check out the B+M site the first of next week. Hopefully they will have them listed by then.

I'm anxiously waitng the listing and auction of the Rick Hennessy Buff set . I seen several of his Buffalos and can't to view them again. I was the under bidder of two of them when they were in Penn set. I have my eye on few of his coins and can't wait to see them in Denver.image

Any body else have interests?

Not Another Buffalo Thread. But, it refers to the GB, not to real Buffalos which is what caitlin is referring to.

Rick had two sets of these. Is this the set that is showing in the registry ? Maybe he is looking at another Shelby Mustang to purchase.

I have had the opportunity to see most of the coins in this set. Rick didn't just fill holes with holdered
coins. He made numerous improvements within the same grade whenever he encountered a nice
high-grade Buffalo Nickel. In essence, he continually upgraded his set without actually raising his
    registry set score.

The 1928-D Buffalo in PCGS-66 is significantly better than the one it replaced. This coin
is an early die state strike and is the finest I've seen for the date. The 1918-S is obviously superior
to the one that recently sold in auction at Baltimore. There are numerous highlights to this set.

Rick's a true collector at heart and it's been fun watching his excitement and enthusiasm for any series
    he's involved in.

I'd recommend if you have the chance to preview these auction lots, do it for your education and,
    of course, enjoyment.

i cant wait , is it aug 12th yet. BUT i have to say i sure hope some of these coins are better than bowers images , they are just terrible images. and i wish rick all the luck in the sale of his collection having gone through this process myself. it becomes pretty emotional after working hard putting this tough series together.image

  • Hi All,
Thanks for the nice comments on my set!!! It has been a labor of love for this set and will miss the set as Ed stated it is pretty emoitional after putting this tough series together. I have tried to select the best coins for strike and overall eye appeal with color being a high priority on most coins.image

I've been looking at a few coins, and from what I can see, it definately is a killer set. Most coins seem to be very PQ for the grade, which is always good because this says the owner also looked at the coin instead of only the grade. A great setimage

PS Richard, good luck with the saleimage

Man, isn't that the truth. I'm scared to death of bidding on B&M coins without seeing them in-hand.
