what was the first coin you ever fell in love with?

I don't mean a coin you really wanted. I mean the first time you saw a coin that you felt you couldn't live without. Mine is a Humbert $50 slug, but I didn't have the money then and I don't now.

It was a common 1928 St. Gaudens PCGS MS63. I sold her when gold was at its peak. I often question myself as to why I would sell the only coin I truly loved. Gold somehow gets a grip om you like nothing else. Its strange.

Believe it or not, a 2000 DCAM SEA obverse did me in. From that point on I had a whole new world to explore. And yes, I know it is only bullion. But from there I discovered Morgans, etc.

When I was about 9 years old my Uncle gave me a Walking Liberty Half. I just loved that coin.

My 1850 proof half cent. As soon as I saw it listed, I was scheming to sell my nicest coins for it.

    Revised response:

A nicely toned VG Barber 50 cent piece.
  • a 1916 Standing Liberty Quarter ms 64/65.
A common rarety that I have never pulled the trigger on.
much too over priced for my taste.
