Ebay "About Me" page for review

BlindedByEgoBlindedByEgo Posts: 10,754 ✭✭✭✭✭
I occasionally sell coins on Ebay. I hate over-long auction pages, and have decided to use the "Me" page to discuss things that could go in every auction - especially return policy.

For anyone who has time, would you mind going here and reading what I have done?

Any constructive additions would be appreciated - BTW, I included a link back to the PCGS message board.

I have nothing for sale on Ebay right now, so this is not a solicitation to buy anything from me image

Thanks in advance!

  • I like your approach, especially about full disclosure. image

I would still put the return and shipping policies (at least a summary) on the auction page. Many (most?) ebayers will not take the time to read "about me."

I will, briefly. I will also ask them to go to my "Me" page for all of the details. Thanks for the opinions so far... Anyone else?

    I agree with the above.
I would also state that when I am going to auctions to bid, I really don't want to go to an "About Me" page.

They are fine but put the pertinent info in the auction anyway image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • I put every pertinent detail in every auction without exception. At least that way I know I did my best to make sure to buyer was informed clearly of all of my policies and cannot claim ignorance.
  • 70% of the people bidding wont visit your about me page.
Make sure you keep the important info and details on the main auciton page. No one likes ridiculously long descriptions, but at the same time i accept that shipping info, payment details belong on the first page. If you make them hunt for the info people will end up sending you emails about it, lol.

  • Thats very nice, I like it. You should find a way to point to that prominently, I don't think many buyers go to the "About Me" pages.
What do you think, Mr. Bigglesworth?

The about me page is exactly what you are saying you want to avoid, too long. And then filled with "educational" items I would not care to read? I have always considered pages that talk about dishonest coin sale techniques, as being the ones I need look at the closest.

Your entire about me page could be summarized in two lines, Coin may be returned within x days of receipt. Shipping is $xx with Delivery Confirmation. And given that belongs on the actual auction page, your "About Me" defeats the purpose.
