An Ocean Nickel FDC purchased on eBay is missing from its sealed envelope
A coworker and coin newbie bought a bunch of 2005 Ocean In View Nickel First Day Coin Covers on eBay many months back and he opened 1 of the 9 covers he purchased. Lo and behold the "sealed" envelope was stuffed with a thick cardboard insert! He then opened 2 more and same thing. He can't recall who sold it to him or if he even bought them on eBay versus a show.
He's reluctant to open the remaining envelopes because he believes it will lower their value. I told him better that than selling them and finding out these is nothing in there a few years from now.
What would you do?

Now correct me if I am wrong but aren't these delivered in a heavy cardboard envelope that requires you to tear something off to get into them? Exactly what did your co-worker buy?
Real sorry to hear that your friend got ripped as well! Some people just do not have any ethics or morals at all and should be dismissed from the human race!

I thought the resell program did not cover the FDC?
Yes, they are in a heavy cardboard envelope but it looks like the glued down flap was carefully lifted and reglued back in place. If so, it was done with great precision. I could not have told. Sort of like those 'unsearched' rolls for sale on ebay!!
I cannot think of any other hobby where there are more ripoffs!
Sorry but it does.
