An annoying Teletrade policy I’d love to see changed.....

As you know, Teletrade runs a minimum of three auctions per week, usually Mon, Wed, and Sun.

Question: Why is it that bids are not accepted until noon on the day of any given auction?

Over the last month or so, I’ve been really interested in a coin in three of their auctions. But I was busy from morning till night on those days, and I did not have web or easy telephone access. In all three cases, I would have easily paid 10% more that the final realized price.

Why not change the policy to allow bidding 24 hrs earlier? Have a 31 hour bidding window, instead of 7. For example, Wednesday's auction kicks off bidding at noon on Tuesday.

This would increase exposure, attract more bids, increase Teletrade’s commission, and make their sellers’ happy. Oh, and it would make this buyer happy (me!)

Come on TT, makes things easier for us!

You can bid before noon of the auction. I have. I have bidded a couple of days before the auction.

The auction is currently not live. However,
you may enter maximum bids at any time.

I usually review and bid as soon as new auctions are listed....The early bird gets the worm (in case of a tie).

You can enter max bids anytime after the auction is listed except for the hour before it starts. That has always been the case, even when they were a telephone bidding operation. I did look at the phone bidding q little while back though, as it would be relevant for me under certain situations, and I wasn't sure that I could still enter max bids there but only increase bids by next increments. I doubt that is the case, but would stink if so.
