1973 Topps Football

Does anyone know if the team checklists for 1973 are graded by PSA? I see singles listed on ebay but have not seen any that have been graded. Also nothing shown in the pop report or the price guide.
Thanks

  • Unfortunately, only 57 total 1973 Topps Checklists have been graded by PSA: six-9s, thirty-four-8s, nine-7s, two-6s, two-5s, two-3-4s, and one-1-2. I have fifteen PSA 8s and two PSA 9s myself, trying to collect the set as well.

As for the raw singles on ebay, I bought a couple advertised as Nrmt or Nm-Mt as a test and sent the best one in. It came back PSA 5. I feel like I'm going to have to wait until I get to some card shows or visit a whole lot of card shops in my quest to complete my set in PSA 8 or better.

I received 11 of my 17 from a fellow collector and the remaining 6 on ebay. So, they do show up on ebay once in awhile.

    Hope this helps.

Well, you gotta do what you gotta do. Did you get my email I sent you about a month ago, maybe not that long ago, about having PSA add these checklists to the respective teams? I thought you had a Skins checklist to add to your '73 Skins set.

Anyway, I finally made it on these boards after being a voyeur for so long. Hope you can help Brian out.

I'm looking for the Baltimore Colts
I see one has been graded so far. Why arent the checklists included in the regular set? Were they released a different way for that year?
    Thanks

  • I know. The highest and only grade for a Colts team is a 7. I'll keep my eye out for one. If I see one on ebay or something before you pick one up, I don't mind holding off my bids waiting for another if you really want one. Hopefully others who read this thread may flip through their collection, pulling out a few gems, knowing there are a few interested collectors, hint, hint. image

These checklists were similar to '74 baseball. The checklists came in wax packs unnumbered, don't remember about cellos, but probably did. They were not available through vending, as far as I know; at least I have not heard of any vending boxes containing team checklists. Not sure why they were not originally added to the main 1973 Topps set, but I see the '73 and '74 Topps baseball checklists were not added to their respective main sets either. There is a separate 1974 Topps Baseball checklist registry and a request for the 1973 bb. I could have requested that too, I guess, but I instead requested them to be added to their respective team sets since their is a 1973 Topps registry set for each team.

I need the 73 Packers image

    Loves me some shiny!
  • ...oh...forgot, you could also get them by mail in offer, sending $0.35 plus two wrappers for all 26 team cards.

A wax box was offered on ebay a couple months ago and I was willing to bid $1500. I thought I had a great shot with that bid as the highest I've heard a vending box sell was $1000. Yeah right, the wax box sold at $3500. That would have been a great opportunity to pull some high grade checklists.

I remember sending away for the checklist cards as a kid. They were sent as sheets of cards that needed to be cut. I think I still have my set from 1975 in uncut form, 2 sheets of 3 cards by 5 cards with a fold to get them into an 8 1/2 x 11 envelope. It was printed on thinner card stock than the standard Topps stock of the '70s, more like the thin white stock you see today with base Topps issues.
  • CAREW Just checked my raw i have 1 that should get a seven drop me a email i will get it out to you bud.

They did the same thing for Baseball, at least in '81. That's a single sheet, folded twice to make sort of a triptych, printed on white stock.
  • Hello All-

I'm looking to finish my Cowboys team set....can't find a decent raw checklist and I've never seen a graded one for sale. Any help would be appreciated!
