I saw my first Prrof Gold Buffalo today.

Stopped by a local shop in the bay area. The shop had about 10 UNC Gold Buffalos and had one proof Gold Buffalo in the dispay case. I had seen the UNC version before and liked it, but it did not jump out at me.
Today I looked at the proof version. A stunningly beautiful DCAM gold coin (big surprise I would like a DCAM proof). The asking price was $900.00 and the guy working the counter said they whole sale to other dealers ar $875.00. If I had some extra cash laying around, I would have been tempted to buy the proof if for no other reason than to have a DCAM gold coin.
As for the UNC, they are priced at $700.00 and are wholesaled to other dealers at $675.00.

They are beautiful.

<< <i>A dealer might pay $875 if he has ready buyers at $900. You can't sell a "order is in process". >>
And that's supposed to be worth a hundred bucks?
<< <i>Yes, the DCAM proof buffs are pretty. I saw them hawking them on Coin Vault last night. Pretty, but expensive.

Same here. I was an awe at the price! Too much for poor people like me

It might not be bad if you use a magifying glass and see an absolutly perfect coin. I've seen about 30 of these and 6 - 10 were total crap. So I figure you have a 65% chance of getting a decent coin and a very rare chance of getting a 70.
