Error Coin Trifecta

What do you think of these? See, you can still find quality errors in everyday change? Although it took me over 25 years to accumulate!!!

The Lincoln error I found in a batch of 1000's of wheaties my Dad gave me when I was 9 years old.....I've been hooked ever since image

Can anyone attribute these for me? Please

The quarter is "missing clad layer"

The nickel is struck through capped die

I think the cent is manmade...

    Hope that helps!

OffMetal - how do i find out if this error is legit, or manmade? whats the best to way to authenticate? And, are there legitimate specimens like this wheat cent?

    I agree with OffMetal.

The Quarter should be thinner - I'm assuming it's a genuine "obverse Clad layer missing"
error, if it is thinner than a normal quarter. You usually
see weak lettering on the outer portions of the design
    elements on both obv. and rev., which I don't see here;
however, that is not a condemnation of the coin; it does
look real, I just hedging my comments.

The Nickel is struck thru a very late stage capped die, where the metal is thinned out so
much that the design of the obv. die is starting to show
thru in this strike, and subsequent strikes.

The Cent has been "machined" on the reverse. Yes, there are a few genuine full Brockage
pieces known, but they are generally of the obv, and
this piece doesn't show any of the charactoristics of a
genuine brockage (based on the scans). Check the weight
of the coin - if it weighs less than 3.1 grams, or 48 grains,
then it's been machined/planed off.......My guess would be
that it weighs about 2.95 to 3 grams, and/or 35 to 42 grains.

Fred - Another dianostic on this quarter (that cannot be seen in my photo), is that the "third side" is totally copper.....although i do not see any signs of weakened strike on the Quarter, as you say? image

Yes, that's important too - I just wanted to leave open
the very small possibility that it was "copper washed",
or even copper-plated (yes, I've seen one-sided examples)

Based on the scans, and you saying the coin is thinner,
I'd say 98% that is a genuine "Obv. Clad Layer Missing".....

What guide/s would you recommend to give an idea of market on these?

The weight of a quarter clad layer is ca. 0.8-1.0 grams. Therefore, a quarter missing a clad layer should weigh ca. 4.7-4.9 g.
