1864 Two Cent Piece - Revisited

I took some better pictures (more accurate) of my 1864 two cent piece. I posted a thread a while back and members were saying it was recolored. The colors in my pictures were way off. Now, I took some pictures that are closer to it's true appearance. Let me know your thoughts. Maybe your thoughts will be unchanged, but at least I'll know it's the coin and not the picture.

In these new images it still looks a bit off (perhaps lightly cleaned?), but not nearly as much so as in the earlier/other ones.

I knew the color in the first pictures I posted was off. It still looks a tad bit shinier than in hand but the color is really close.

I defer 100% to Mark's expertise. But cleaned or not, it looks pretty good. I've been looking for a two cent piece for my Dansco 7070, and have been having difficulty finding one at a reasonable price that doesn't either have a major problem or just look wrong due to harsh cleaning. I really like yours at the price.

Thanks! I love the detail (which the picture does not show well enough), also. I wish you could see this coin in hand. I have looked at it under 10x and it has great character. It would break my heart if it was recolored. Not just because I own it...but because it is so detailed (razor sharp).

You were right. It graded AU50 DETAILS:CLEANED by ANACS.

How much will this de-value the coin? What do you think it is worth in this condition? I paid about $70 for it.

Thx! But, it was cleaned...not recolored

BTW, the seller has agreed to refund my auction price. How should I return the coin to make sure I get my money back. I have never returned an EBay auction item.

I'd say just mkae sure that you get some kind of tracking on the package so you can prove that it was sent.
