My Opinions- Buying Raw, Feedback and Returns

No disrespect for anyone, but here are my opinions:

1. Buying Raw- Caveat Emptor. Some of my best AND worst purchases were raw cards in the days before scanners were common. My recent raw winners: 1975 OPC Stargell became a PSA 9, 1967 Stargell graded PSA 8. Paid about $10 total. Some losses too. But that is the way it goes.

3. Negative Feedback- If you are truly disappointed and can't get it resolved...leave a negative. That is why it was developed. I personally could care less if I receive a negative, because it really does not limit your ability to buy.

5. Returns- I'll accept a return, but I will NEVER refund the shipping fees. I do a good job of explaining the cards and supply multiple scans. I once had a card that was sold for about $3 that was returned over a discrepancy in grade. Who has the time to care?

now before everyone puts me on their hated list... I have bought and sold many cards with members on this board. These are simply...MY OPINIONS!

<< <i>4. Asking for feedback- If you send me an email asking me to leave you feedback...I will never do it. That is simply pathetic. "Hi, I sent you the money for my card, could you please tell everyone that I did." >>

    Well

    Aren't we special?

If someone has left you FB - you OWE them the same.

Perhaps when people are trying to build their FB - they might be compelled to ask.

You know what I think is pathetic?

People coming on this board - and judging the actions or habits of others.

    I have a FB of 100.

    I do not sell.

I treat people fairly and always leave FB after I get the item and am happy - which is most all the time.

When I had a FB of like 22 and didn't get it in return, I would contact the seller.

But, I would hardly call that pathetic. Any seller who doesn't leave me FB after I have left it - will most likely never get my business again. Most definitely after our "first" transaction.

I think I speak for most here - that their FB rating is sorta important to them.

  • point 2...... sure feedback matter. As a seller, I'm not about to sell something to someone who has a bad track record, and as a buyer I pay close attention to the last 200 feedbacks that a seller has recieved before I bid on one of their items.

point 5...As a seller, I won't accept returns unless I made an obvious mistake. If this happens, I will refund shipping costs both ways.

Do you see the irony in that? If feedback doesn't matter, why should it matter if you've traded with members here? It's the same concept.

    I agree with you Mike.

I have recieved 2189 fbs and have left 2580. So 16% of my transactions I have not recieved feedback. I think that sucks.

On my buyer account that I started recently, I have asked for feedback after I got the item, posted + for them and a week went by with nothing.

When I sell and someone asks me for feedback, I promptly leave it. I always leave feedback but sometimes I get backed up and a few weeks may pass, but I always leave it for buyers and sellers.

I know these are your opinions, so no hating here, but here is mine.

<< <i>If I sold you something and you sent me the money and I in turn sent the card....rarely will I leave feedback for this. And I don't expect any in return. Why...because that is what is supposed to happen and quite frankly I really do not have the time. >>

I think that if you have the time to scan the card, list the card, cash the check, and ship the card, then you can find the few seconds that it takes to leave feedback. You don't have to leave feedback for each card individually, you can just sweep thru once a week or once a month and post feedback. eBay makes this so simple by putting 25 transactions on a single page and allowing you to simply cut and paste as you go down the line.

I think feedback is less important the more that you have i.e. if you have 1000 or 10,000 people will generally get the idea, but even still I leave feedback on every single transaction that I complete.

I'm enjoying the responses. I love good debate. I will clarify. I probably leave feedback about 50% of the time.

Never looked at that, but that really does suck. Here's mine:
    3548 left by me
    2943 left by others
    17% transactions with no feedback

That's 50% f'cked up! Sorry, but I do not see one good reason in your post for not leaving feedback.

Kimo, You not leaving feedback when asked is NOT your opinion, its a fact according to #4, and thats pretty chitty that you operate like that. Just my opinion!

The feedback issue will always be a hot button topic, kimo, as the posts here certainly show. Personally, my main concern is that I receive the product or card as described and in a timely fashion. For me, that is much more significant than receiving feedback, though it's always nice to see that positive added to your overall rating.

Would anyone rather have a positive than a card they paid good money for? Feedback is just what makes the eBay community work IMO. You can see pretty quickly who is good and who is bad based on feedback.

With the way the feedback system is set up, though, even most unsatisfied buyers are reluctant to leave less than positive feedback because of "feedback retaliation" so a seller's positive feedback rating may be very misleading as a result.

Wanna give me your ebay id Kimo so I can put you on my blocked sellers list ?

Saying you will rarely leave feedback for someone who paid on time, received the card, and left you positive feedback may be the single most obnoxious and arrogant thing I have heard yet on here. I really hope the majority of this board reads those comments and blocks you too. We all have busy lives, but some of us choose to have respect and decency towards others we do business with.

My opinion is you dont deserve another bidder on anything you ever sell. And like you said, opinions can never be wrong !

If you have time to post and respond on this forum, you have time to leave feedback. Not having time is a lame excuse. Why not just say you don't want to.

I've actually gone and checked my stats:

    291 received
    325 left

I guess my definition of "rarely" is warped. Like TO, I misquoted myself.

Strike #2 as the stats clearly bear that out. But I'll stand by the other stuff.

Oh, well. My life story....start a debate without the facts.

It was a bit entertaining to see this place blow up on me though.

    Kimo

I will have to apologize for being a bit tough on you.

It seems a lot of people are having a bad hair day or something - opinions are one thing - characterizing those opinion with degradation is not necessary.

I respect your opinion and all the points you made.

I do take a touch umbrage with characterizing people who would solicit that FB as pathetic. To be fair, it's not even pushy. I can't tell you how many sellers that have reminded me about leaving FB with the thanx for paying. The sword cuts both ways I guess.

    That's about it.

I really just love stirring stuff up. Always have. I really just had one guy who emailed me 3 times a day while I was on vacation asking for feedback. Probably left it.

No offense taken with the responses at all.

Now on to my next debate.....

Since you did bring it up, care to share your Ebay ID with the forum?
