Tomorrow's (Tonights) Coin Club Auction List

StrikeOutXXXStrikeOutXXX Posts: 3,352 ✭✭✭✭✭
Here's my local coin club auction list for tomorrow - few things I want to check out. There is usually a few more higher end things, looks slim this time though with a mix of 'stuff'. I'll probably spend most of the time going through the dealer's inventory.

Anybody see anything that sticks out? They usually start bidding at 1/2 the "Estimated Value" and it doesn't usually go much higher.

Also, could I get current greysheet on an 1899 Barber Quarter in a few grades between AU58 and MS65 please. The club dealer is holding one for me I wanted to look at further.

Thanks All

Each member can put up to 5 items in the auction each month, and they're the ones who provide the grade estimate. Some of the folks prefer to let you make your own opinion during the viewing before the meeting. Those that do give an opinion are usually very close.

I'm not really into currency, but lot 24 looks neat, and it can probably be had for around $25.00, so may go for it if I like the looks.

I'm with you on 27,28, 32 & 35 and will probably look at the Russian proof set too.

I'll look at all the Barber stuff, see if any of the Morgans catch my eye, and probably look over the Canadian halves.

Unless my son sees something he wants, that will probably be it unless something really stands out from the group.

I envy you, those are the type auctions I really like. Go in blind and search image

I have an extensive collection of Georgia script, which is why I noticed 24.

Yea, I picked up my '51 Bugs Bunny Franklin for around $5.00 2 auctions ago and didn't even realize it at the time - other than some antique auctions in the area that sometimes have coins - this is about it for coins around me - I've been having fun with them so far.

**Can anyone help me out with a greysheet look-up please**

I ended up with #7 (1903 & 1914 VG Barber Quarters), #33 (4x Liberty Nickels VG ea), & #60 (1968 Russian Proof Set). I didn't even go over $20 total. The other 4 interesting lots were AG or holed and the love tokens had been jewelery as well, so passed on them.

I skipped the Georgia 10c Script - it looked nice, and could have been had for $20, but just didn't do much for me.

I also wimped out on the 1899 Barber from one of the dealers - It was ooh so pretty, but just a few light marks on the cheek I believe would have kept it in AU range and was hoping for MS. Ooh well, there's always next month.

The Canadian halves had spent about 40+ years behind a criss-crossed rubber band and left an interesting black toned cross effect on them - something you don't see every day.
