1990 Upper Deck Mike Witt #702?

Does anyone know the story with this card? The PSA Registry shows Mike Witt as card #548, but this Tuff Stuff article quotes Keith Olbermann as saying that the card was initially produced as #702, but was then replaced with an Expos rookies card (with Deshields, Grissom and Walker...nice card).

Anyone know the deal? I did a few google searches but didn't find anything useful.

Just curious,

AJW.

  • This came up in another thread but I can't seem to find it. A few #702 Mike Witt cards did get released in early 1990 packs as well as a few checklist cards showing Witt as card #702. The card was changed to a Rookie Threats card with DeShields, Grissom, and Walker. The #702 Witt has a black rectangle covering much of the back of the card and is pretty scarce. image

If anyone happens to have a scan of the card, please, by all means, link to it. I've love to see this.

Wow gordon cutout card of topps heritage too scarce to collect??? I know kuhlmann and Jstalin each pulled one....Kuhlmann as usual cant wait to sell something as soon as he gets it..prolly regrets the 275 he could get now for it. heck he prolly could get 500 from oblermann directly....So in conclusion all i have to say is GOOD JOB KUHLMANN...COWBOYS SUCK!!!!
