RYK; I have followed your posts and I believe you strive to give the most accurate depiction possible to the customer. I think you are experimenting here to gain knowledge. Way to go. No doubt in my mind that you take the high road. Those that want to be great must experiment. RYK I did some research on the CC-gold that is in the ANR auction, and this 78-CC $5 is the coin that was in the Henry Lang sale that B&M auctioned in July ANA sale in NYC in 2002. Doug Winter writes: 78-CC $5 Lot 615 graded AU55 by NGC. This was one of the disappointments for me in the sale. It had funky orange-gold color which appeared to be artificial. It still brought $24,150.00, which is a strong price for a date that is bid @ $14,500.00 in AU. Had this coin been choice for the grade, it would have brought over $30,000.00. By the way that is one nice 47-0 $5!!
