the absurdity of VAM designation turnaround times

"Your PCGS Grades Are Available" is not what I expected to see in my list of e-mails today... but there it was. "What the heck order is that?" I wondered. Turns out it was a VAM designation coin. Also turns out to be more proof of the absurdity of VAM designation turnaround times. Here are my three most recent previous examples:

13 coins received 6/5/2006. Coins done 7/21/2006
5 coins received 6/12/2006. Coins done 7/19/2006
3 coins received 6/19/2006. Coins done 6/30/2006

And now the subject of today's surprise e-mail:

1 coin received 7/19/2006. Coin done 7/25/2006

Go figure, huh?

Edited to add: All four of these orders were for VAM designations on already-holdered PCGS coins.
When in doubt, don't.

I have a nice story about my recent order from across the street. Nice to submit them and get them back without designations on the tags or database .... and these were all no-brainers that a "Is This a VAM?" poster could designate all by himself. I am sure it was just an exotic adminstrative snafu that will get handled fine but I sure was steamed yesterday when they arrived.
