Special thanks to Slumlord98 for holding this awsome giveaway.

This was the prize and its truly an interesting piece. Obviously not a real 1804, but its an old counterfeit...not contemporary.
Slumlord98 said his family has owned it for awhile. Its hard to tell if its an altered date (maybe from 1801) or simply an old counterfeit.

Any opinions are welcome...I included a few close up pics of some breaks that might help.

    It is a cast coin that probably originated in the Far East. They've been cranking out 1804 dollars for some time. Cool colors.

    LOL. I was in San Francisco a few weekends ago. In Chinatown, you could purchase 1804, 1846-CC (yes, CC) and other fantastic dates from one of the street merchants.

  • counterfeits like that are pouring out of Asia. I hate to reak it to you but it is not an altered date, but a straight out counterfeit
