Do you still have your Very First Coin?

I do, but it's Darkside. My first US coin(s) were a '68 proof set, which some kid stole from my room, broke up and spent. I found a 68 proof dime in change weeks later (it was a small town).

My first real coin, as in nice, slabbed keeper, yes. IH in MS65RD

But my first collected coin ever, no way.

Yes, a type 1 standing lib quarter that I found back in 1963. I carried it for a pocket piece for almost 30 years before retiring it.

of course not, why would I keep what was likely a nickel or cent when I was preschool? First half dime, yes.
  • Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant your very first collectible coin, not the first coin you ever got in change.

And I was hoping someone would post pics of theirs. Here's mine.

No way. Whatever it was, it was a piece of crap. I'm not sentimental about such things.

My very first coin was returned to me by Lakesammmon. Originally sold to him, then returned, free of charge.

The first and only IH MS67RD I ever purchased from Heritage's inventory, many years ago. Turns out its also
a misplaced date in denticles (which I missed the first time around) image

  • I believe this is the first coin in my collection. I found it when I was about 8 (1987?) on the sidewalk by the corner grocery store.

  • Well, I'm no longer a YN, as some here are, but I have one of the first ones, a circ Peace $ given to me by my now 99 year old grandmother. image
What do you think, Mr. Bigglesworth?
