Sometimes, Heritage blows.

So, I ride an auction to the end last night to see if I'd get outbid. At the end, I'm the winner!

So, I come in this morning all excited and ready to pay for my coin only to find this:

They extended the auction 24 hours due to "technical problems". That's funny. I didn't see any technical problems as I was refreshing it every couple minutes last night.
GRRRRRRRR.

Maybe they had a shill bidder in Queens who was unable to access the website?

Sometimes?
kind of sux when you look at it.
<< <i>was 65.00 the maximum you were willing to pay? >>
Yep. I always place only one bid at the max I'm willing to go, whether it's Teletrade, Heritage or sniping on eBay. Calculating in the juice and shipping that puts it at what I'm willing to risk buying based on an image. Normally, this wouldn't even be a coin I'd buy, but I caught a bad case of "I'd REALLY like to see what this one looks like in hand. "

I really hate it when this crap happens!
The name is LEE!
<< <i>Doesn't Heritage having a later auction close for their "preferred" customers? >>
Floor auctions, not internet auction. For signature sales, most bidders get cutoff in their online bidding at midnght before the session. Legacy customers, people who have reliably spent a lot of money regularly and always pay on time, get to go until a few hours before the auction hits the floor. Some people think that is unfair. I assure you, you would be a Legacy customer if you were bidding on the lots where this probably is an advantage and Legacy folks would simply hang on the phone or use a representative (even if they did personally view the lots themselves) on the floor anyway.

I have found Heritage to be outstanding these days with customer service and satisfaction. Suffice it to say, I have done a LOT of business with them.
<< <i>I'd contact Greg or Jim Halperin and tell them exactly what happened. I would bet they make good one way or another. >>
The only "make good" I'd want is the coin, and that wouldn't be fair to the new bidder. Sooner or later, another will come along.

It's like those nightmares I used to have where the university would call to tell me due to an error I hadn't really graduated and would have to take more hours.
