100th post give away. YN only please.

I'm a few posts early, but will list this now. I would like it to be for YN's only? I appreciate your cooperation in this. I haven't worked out the details just yet, but am working on it. I want it to be fun, and worth the trouble for everyone interested. Won't tell you what I'm giving away, but I will say that it is a group of Cameo coins. They are in a coin world holder, and unfortunately they are not the grade stated on the labels. (They would be off the charts if they were). My grading skills put them at PR-68DCAM. Anyway, when I come up with the plan, I'll post back. In the mean time, if you have any ideas on a super cool method, I am open to suggestions.

  • Here it is: I am going to ask a question, and the YN that answers the closest, wins. Here is the question:

In the same year this coin set was minted, the second of this type of ship was launched, and I witnessed this launching. It was named after a small sailing vessel that operated out of Boston in 1792 and explored the mouth of the Columbia River. What am I talking about, and why is it no longer in service?

I'll run the contest until someone gets the answers correct.

    That's it.

  • Boy, that didn't last long. Strikeoutxxx's son got it right away. I thought I had a tough one here. Guess I gave one too many clues. I'm getting his coins out to him ASAP. Glad to help a YN. I wish I had something like this when I was his age. Congratulations. I'll have to do this again when I reach 200 posts.

The answers were the Space Shuttle Columbia, which was destroyed upon reentry in 2003. I think it was gunning for G.W. but missed. (That's my humble oppinion, no one elses).

  • The ship was called the Columbia Rediviva. The space shuttle Columbia was named after it. It is no longer in service because it crashed in 2003.

  • Regulator,

Not trying to start anything here, I've done enough of that recently. I was just trying to make a joke. I have a hard time realizing that not everyone thinks my jokes are all that funny. Sorry.

    SafeCracker,

I'm not trying to make any enemies here. But as Rosie once said in one episode of the Jetson's , "A place for everything and everything in it's place." Just seems like EVERYTHING is politicized nowadays and it's impossible to escape from it all. Sometimes its nice to just enjoy the hobby...
