1966 batman 55 card set orange back, any info?

as someone who usually collects sports cards, i worked a trade whereby i rec'd the subject set
as part of the deal. can any one give me any info on it?

who made it? wwg or topps?
are there any other back colors?
retail value if the cards are nm?

any info would be helpful.

i love the set, the pix are corny but cool.
i ain't often right
but I've never been wrong
it seldom turns out the way
it does in the song
once in a while
you get shown the light
in the strangest of places
if you look at it right

I thought everyone might like these, transferred some old 8mm film to DVD and discovered these:

My 4th birthday Batman theme party, Sept 1966, I'm the sexy kid in red

    image

My little brother with black bat #14 (Nightly Patrol) in his mouth, can't tell which cards are on the floor, oh the humanity...

The majority of the card backs feature a large "BAT LAFFS" caption above a ridiculous question that somehow always incorporates a "BAT" in the answer.

The answer is in a much smaller font upside-down and below the question. A few of the card backs did not have a caption, but ALL of the Bat Laff cards feature a color photographic image puzzle.
PLEASE NOTE: The BATMAN craze was certainly not limited to the USA - it was a worldwide frenzy, with card manufacturers licensed to create almost identical cards to the Topps series above. In Canada it was O-Pee-Chee, in the UK and Netherlands it was A & BC Gum, and in Australia it was Scanlens. The images above represent the Topps/USA versions only.
    Good for you.
