I knew the nice people on eBay are cheap, but c'mon...

I've got a 1971 PCGS PR67 Kennedy image listed for 99c and get this email

Are there any spots, toning, or haze on the coin? I'm considering this as a gift and eye-appeal is more important than grade. Thanks!

I just thought it was funny he was considering spending 99c for a gift. Cheap azz!

How do you know he was planning on getting it for 99c? He might have been ready to bid bigger, unless you had it as a BIN. Which would be a bit absurd.

Well, true. The coin might sell for as much as $1.04

Yeah, you're right. Why should someone care about the look of the coin. Especially if it is a gift. They should only care if they spend big money on it!

You know something relayer, I have spent "cheap azz" money on coins for gifts. I didn't want high cost/grade coins but I wanted nice ones. These coins went into a couple of gifts for my mother and others. I guess I should either have spent a lot of money to get nice ones or I shouldn't have cared if it was spotted/hazed over, right?

Guess it's all about the money for you, right?

(Sorry, but you hit a sore spot because I have been buying lower cost coins for gifts and wanted nice looking but not necessarily high grade....spotting/hazing would kill the look I was going for)

I'd have to side with the buyer.

Everyone should have a scanner and super size the coin they are selling. That's what I do.

Relayer....what's your ebay ID? I want to make sure I spare you any potential future headache and not worry about your stuff.
I'm seeing how you feel about legit questions to legit customers and that is enough for me.

    Thanks

Btw, I see nothing wrong with what the buyer was asking.

YOu dont know what his final bid may be--all you need is two bidders like that and they may fight it out.

There is nothing wrong with inexpensive coin gifts. The expensive ones are often a waste of money for non-collectors. 99 cents for a thoughtful gift is usually better than $20 spent on a last minute rush purchase at the mall or similar.

I don't see anything wrong with the question.

    Well he bid $1.33.

But it must have been for somebody REALLY special, because an hour later he came back and bid $3.55. image I sure wasn't expecting that.

Normally, that would win it, but no joy.

    Hey stman -

I've told you 100 times - I don't do refunds so you're stuck with that POS

And quit complaining about my S/H. I gave you a discount.

The gas, my lunch and soda on the way to the post office, plus the wear and tear on my tires - that all came out of MY POCKET image

I have no idea if you mention this sort of thing in your listings?

But some folks do, I could never understand that thinking? I am somehow responsible for all the costs associated with buying something from you? I should get a discount for licking the envelope, cost of envelope, and my postage cost to mail you a check, plus gas, depreciation on my car, insurance costs, parking meters, hourly rate to stand in line, and so on?

I suppose every real company in the world works those costs into the selling price, most never mention it as a favor cost for me to buy.

A seller once told me that the reason it was $9.00 (not including insurance) to mail me a slabbed coin by 1st Class mail was the cost of the padded envelope and gas to the PO?

"To know the road ahead, ask those coming back"
  • Ahhhh the finest comments come from folk who know bidness.

relayer- make sure you include the oil change fee you have to pay the next time they recycle the oil from your car, and also the fee for dumping your old used tires in the dump near your house- that could net you at minimum another 6 bucks in fees.

what ever happened to good ol business deals.

    relayer,

I notice you ignored my post asking for you ebay ID so I can make sure not to bid (I think I had it on my favorites once but removed it for similar reasons.....something to do with travel or tickets or something?).

Anyway, maybe you should send a link to this thread to the guy that asked that question....I'm sure he would appreciate it, after all, it isn't like he did something like trying to scam you or cheat you or anything, right?

WOW, so there we have it. Hey, I can certainly understand the costs of BINNESS LMAO. Look forward to meeting you at a show sometime.
Shall I look for the guy with the hair greased and slicked back, wearing gold neck chains, and pinky rings?

As MORGANHUNTER2 pointed out, I also didn't charge you for oil changes, oil waste disposal fees, and tire disposal fees - so you ripped me even more than I thought.

I do collect what I am owed, so look for me at the next show and pay me what is mine. Here's my picture:
