Some people really tick me off, including board memebers.

I get a PM from a board member about a book they desperately need, I know where to get one, so I go out of m way, 25 miles, buy the book, ship for free, not a penny out of their pocket and not even a thank you. This has happened with 2 board members now and I am geting sick of it. Thanks for letting me rant.

Did you let THEM know how you felt? I hope so, as that's probably more important than letting everyone else know
Maybe they thought they said thanks or something?
Anyway, you sound like a good guy. If I ever learn how to read and need any books, I will look you up. Thanks in advance

No one knows who they are and I hope they see the tread!
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

But did you let them know? If not, why not?
Thanks Russ, too bad it wasn't you and I know you would have sent a thank you PM.

Tell them, politely, of course. They should know how you feel. Also, do you KNOW they received the items? Once in a while we think we are aware of all of the facts and later learn we were mistaken.

Out the bastidges!
Actually, the way you wrote this shows your true character...."hope they never need anything from me" implies that you would actually still consider it. To me, that means you are a solid person and one that can be dealt with honestly and fairly
and by the way did I mention OUT THE UNGREATFUL BASTIDGES!!!!!
Not even a "thank you" is inexcusable.

You hope they see the tread, on your tire? You hope they see the tread on your shoe? I don't get it.
Just kidding.

So, you DON'T KNOW that they received them. In that case, you owe it to them and yourself to find out - seriously.
By the way, you're really starting to "tick me off"
and as for you Mark, you're ticking me off
i figure i'm one of the two ingrates and this is the book involved. it made it here safely at the end of last week and simply slipped my mind, our last contact was a PM you sent confirming that you'd sent it on July 7th. if you think this is bad, perhaps the member that i neglected to send a $25 check to will post, that was even more embarrassing!!!
with that said you have my apology.
And you're welcome.
Hey are the two from the northwest ? Let me know and I will go kick them in the frankies. There is no excuse for not saying Thank You. Even if the book did not arrive for some reason.

Yep, there's nothing like a good pout. You've earned, you deserve it, now enjoy it.
A few years back some guy on a board I frequented asks for some magic silver audio jack treatment goop. It's stupid expensive like over $100 for a ridiculously small amount. I buy him several tubes and send to him. He pays me and provides the necessary thank you's but shortly after the guy starts really blasting me all over this board (it was political discussion) not related to the deal we had.
I emailed him and reminded him I was the guy who helped him and told him that while I disagreed with him I stay "hands off" of him because we had a friendly transaction. I figure he forgot who I was because some time passed and we all use alias-es anyway. He didn't forget anything and really gave it to me after that.
To this day I still can't believe it but I don't let it deter me and you shouldn't either. Recently I helped somebody from this board get something they wanted and it was my supreme pleasure to be of assistance and get the opportunity to correspond with a new person in a friendly way.

Never view my other linked pages. They aren't coin related.
Seriously, ar18, I would be pissed, too.

You mean like this one:
<< <i>I knew the nice people on eBay are cheap, but c'mon... >>
Talk about the pot and the kettle relayer.
As for the books, coinguy's right, a polite note to the two suspected deadbeats asking if they have received the books might prove helpful. Sometimes people just get caught up with their chaos and forget their manners. They don't necessarily mean to be rude or inconsiderate. We all make mistakes . . . .
I would say thank you

You have done some really nice things for fellow forum members but I agree with Mark. Contact the recipients of the gifts and ask them if they received it and if they liked it. Perhaps they are out of town and do not know, wrong address, etc. Perhaps they did not appreciate the gesture. BTW I try not to offer to give gifts unless the giving is rewarding in itself. If it is not a pleasure to give then I don't. For those that are the receivers of nice gestures. Thanks is always welcomed. Try it you will like it.

I sure as heck am glad I did not send out my gift and letter of thanks for the help in obtaining this book
Very dissapointing that one would complain in a public forum about an item that was given as a gift.
I also asked to buy the book and would have done so including postage I did not ask for the book free.
I will return the book as soon as I can I will continue to look for this book I would rather buy the book.
I am answering in public since that seems to be the prefered way.
