To those of you that have dealt with both, are there any pros or cons for either of these two online auction houses?

I've never sold through TT, but my experience with Heritage was very good.

TT seems to sell a lot of lower end material (lower end for the grade), but you can pick off a nice piece from time to time.

Heritage has better coins during there Signature auctions, but you'll have to pay a premium for them.

if you are selling nice stuff, try to get into Heritage's signature auction. If you are selling low end stuff, Teletrade might be the way to go, but Heritage has nice online only auctions that can help you get a decent rate of return.

Actually, I'm more of a buyer these days. It looks like both are charging a 15% buyers' premium. Are there any salient differences between the two auction houses from a buyers perspective?

    Thanks

Teletrade will let you return coins if you don't like them (I believe they still do this). However, there's a pretty hefty penalty so it's usually not worth the trouble.

  • I dont think this is even close. Please note the # of lots teletrade does now, vs what heritage does. I think teletrade and david lawrence are the best in the business at online auctions, hands down.

better to buy at Heritage than teletrade, better coins don;t end up on teletrade but you can pick a gem!
I seldom check PM's but do check emails often jason@seated.org

Buying top quality Seated Dimes in Gem BU and Proof.

Buying great coins - monster eye appeal only.
  • Obviously not a criticism of Heritage, but for me the Texas state sales tax on anything < $1000 is a real downer on top of the juice.

Heritage's extensive archives are handy for research, but I like Teletrade's search features better.

I've been a Teletrade fan since the phone-in days. I guess they seem like the underdogs so I support them.

Both offer good service and terms, but Teletrade often has lots and lots of modern proofs and NCLT which
    is seldom offered by Heritage.
