What should I do ?

My time to leave feedback on Ebay is running out.
I have not received an expensive item from a seller.
He scanned me a registered post receipt ( a number ) but I can't see if it was send to me.
He is now saying that he has contacted the post office, a week or so ago but mailed today saying that the post office need another two weeks to sort it out.
I have asked for my money to be returned ( about 1,700 Euro ) but it has fallen on deaf ears.
I have just send him another mail requesting money to be returned. I have explained that if/when I receive the coin the money will be returned to him.
Appearently I could open a dispute within 60 days but didn't, so I don't want to miss leaving feedback.
What feedback should I leave ?
TIA
PS I am confident of getting my money ( even if it means ringing the police in the buyers country ).

Wasn't the shipment insured? It doesn't matter squat what kind of receipt the seller has. Why wouldn't a shipment of that value be insured???

Disagree, ask for a better copy, a registered parcel cannot be lost, or at least it can be tracked, but it takes a long time, upto 4 months perhaps, counting from 30 days after the item was shipped. The inquiry has to be done by the sender, there's not much that you can do.

Because EU countries have heavy VAT and other charges for items coming from non EU countries. In my case, they can reach 25%. Still, for such an item coming from a seller that I do not know, I would have insisted for private insurance. If such an option was unavailable, I would have asked him to send the item to one of the gentlemen of this forum, residing in the US, with delivery confirmation, who would have sent it to me safely later, I've done this several times and I sleep much better this way. I assume that he's a US seller, if not, it gets more complicated, especially if he's from South Africa, where paypal and Western Union no longer operate due to excessive fraud.

Agree, you can get back to him later, see how you'll deal with this issue first. If he's not in Andy's black list there should be hope.
I'm really sorry to hear this, and I hope that it will have a happy end. Do not despair and keep us updated.

One consideration might be that if you leave a negative, any and all attempts made by the seller to help you may cease.
(That's if the seller is doing anything in the first place.)
Ouch.
