Can anything be done about people that routinely juice Ebay pictures?

There are many sellers on Ebay that continue to do this. What makes it funnier is when they make it easy to track down the true pictures.

  • Wow, I didn't know the teletrade pics had that much dpi. Doesn't look like alot has been done though, a little less gamma, no color differences..

What do you think, Mr. Bigglesworth?

You could always stop bidding and buying from them.
    When in doubt, don't.

A little less gamma would make the colors less intense, not more. The image has been juiced using the saturation slider.

Edit: You're right. Lowering the gamma does intensify the color. This is saturation, though.

I dunno about that. It does look like a monster breathed on it...

Yeah, I lost photoshop lite a couple reinstalls ago. Lately I've been using IrfanView which is free, and pretty capable once you learn the German way of doing image editing. I would highly recommend if for people who do not want to pay for Photoshop and have reasonably straightforward image editing tasks to perform. Unfortunately, as we are seeing, it brings the prevarication possibilities to the masses...

I'll just bet if someone cracked that out, baked it in the oven at 350 for seventeen minutes and submitted to PCGS it would come back MS64.

Hmmm, great question. Short answer, no. Let the buyer beware. Unfortunately some are very good at photoshop and other software, fortunately that scum does not have a clue. No, it's not the lighting. lol. jws

This is a great help for those who are challenged to paint within the lines. Takes a few hours to get the hang of but for those attempting to give an accurate depiction it's a great tool. Not the pen I use though. jws

Unfortunately it also works well for those who seek to deceive.

  • Ya just save the picture and use your own photo software to de-enhance it. Using things in the photo that you know what the colors should look like like the slab and label as a guide so you can see about what it most likely really looks like.

I owned this coin a few months back and there is NO luster. The coin is dead. Even the Teletrade pic makes it look better than in hand.

I have bought a few coins from Ladsales, and I have been quite pleased with what I got vs. the pictures.

  • Yes, don't buy them. You can't protect people from their own ignorance or stupidity !---P.T.Barnum
