  • Thanks for the nice comments. I need to get the rest of the images up. I am 6 coins away from completing it.
  • Any comments or suggestions?
  • Comment: Cool coins.

Suggestion: You need to make the thumbnail images smaller. Smaller in bytes, not in dimension. They are currently about 160,000 bytes, when they should be less than 20,000. This will greatly speed up the time it takes for them all to load.

  • Thanks I will check into that. Thats something that did not really cross my mind until now. The last time I loaded I did notice it took a few secs for all the coins to load. I can only imagine what it would be like on dial up.
  • I think I have a good way to do the thumbnails.

Super nice set. When did you start/how long has it taken you?

What Cnitas is talking about is that you are using your large pics to double as the smaller thumbnails. If you cut the physical size in half then in half again, you'd end up with thumbs about 35k each instead of 160k each. It's no problem for people with broadband, but even so, with cable the pics drip down the screen.
  • Smoker,
I have been working on this set since Jan of 05. I was rather lucky in my findings. As to the thumbnail pics, I plan to make thumbnails for all the coins. I am down to 6 coins left for the set. I need to photo some of the coins, etc. So I will be putting more images up ASAP. I hope to have all the images up soon.
  • The more and more i work on this project the more and more I like it. It is looking very nice!

Very nice, I may have to steal that design. image

    few things:

    1. The maximum DPI that most monitors can display is 72dpi, so web only photos should not be more than 72dpi. The newer monitors go 96dpi, so 96 would be ok too.
    2. There is no title on your page, so if you try to add it as a favorite, it comes up as "Untitled Document".
    3. The site appears to have been made for a fairly high resolution monitor - most people still use 600x800 - I use 1280x1024 and I had to scroll to see the whole site, this is distracting and considered bad form in a web site.

    Good Luck!

I too had to scroll to view the whole page. Ideally, the entire page would come into view without having to scroll. Otherwise, I really like the design.
  • Thanks for the comments. I totally forgot to name the page LOL... When I make the thumbnails I will make them smaller so no scrolling is needed. I use the same screen size as you. As far as the DPI I will leave that alone for now.. I just fixed the page name and I will start on the thumbnail pics a bit later
  • I like your format. Are any, or all, of the coins certified ?
  • abc,
All the coins are raw. Some were cracked out, but all are raw.

    Good job!image
  • Thanks for praise. There is still alot of work to be done to get all the images up etc. Once done though it will be a fine piece of work if you ask me
  • Nice coins. In addition to the observations others have posted, I don't see any coin pics from 1944 to the present. Are there none or is there some issue with the page loading those large thumbnails?
What do you think, Mr. Bigglesworth?

These are the images I am working on as we speak. I am getting the images of the set up as fast as possible. I should have all the images up soon. Just the time it takes to photo and crop the coins. The only coins I am missing are the ones marked "No Coin". Thanks for the nice comments.

I am not the one you are thinking of image .... But my name is Bruce Lee named after him. My Father was a huge fan of his, so he named me that way. I have heard just about every joke etc that goes with the name.
