Kind of Cool - Dave Kingman Rookie, PSA 10

I'm by no means the most experienced collector out there, but I've been collecting for over 35 years, and for some reason I don't ever recall seeing this card (and I don't mean in PSA 10, I just mean if you asked me what a Dave Kingman rookie looked like, I wouldn't have known until now):

Currently on ebay, by the way.

Actually, I'm happy to see who the seller is that's selling that card. He's a good guy and has some quality cards up every now and again.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

Yep, very tough to beat if he really wants something.

I would expect better centering for the PSA 10 grade.

I collect everything Giants, and I've found that my collection ends up encompasing the rookies of a few guys who either didn't play for the Giants (just ended up on the same card), or aren't known for being a Giant, but were known during their era.
For instance, Dave Kingman and George Foster aren't necessarly known for their SF days, but that's where they started.
    And what do:
Bill Freehan, Ron Cey, Ken Griffey, Gary Carter, Ron Guidry, and Dale Murphy all have in common? They didn't start out in SF, but share a rookie card with guys who did.

    My Giants collection want list

Anyone have a good photo of Kingman later in his career? Because he sure doesn't have the "King Kong" build in his rookie card.

Digicat, that's pretty crazy. Well, at least you know the Guidry Rookie can be had for a reasonable price!

The colors on that bad boy are absolutely brilliant! But, I would expect better centering in a 10. Also, is that a slight tilt I detect?

Call me crazy, but I love pics taken in Candlestick.

He's a little Harry Callahan-ish in this shot.

"I know what you're thinkin', punk. 'Did he hit me 6 times with that bat or only 5?' Well, in all of this excitement, I kinda lost track, myself. But considering this is a Hillerich and Bradsby, 36 ounces and would knock your head clean off, you gotta ask yourself 'Do I feel lucky?'..."
