Gold Buffalos-- stampede is slowing down...!

tincuptincup Posts: 5,297 ✭✭✭✭✭
Yep... ANOTHER gold buffalo post!!!! image

Just noting that my latest Numismatic News statistics on the coin is showing a noticable slowdown. Only 26,000 more sold in the last week included in the update. They made the observation that sales appear to be reducing in half from each previous week.... if so, the next week only around 6,000 will sell. Perhaps if the Mint cancels the 10 coin limit things will take off again....

Keep your Gold American Eagles instead!

  • Is this for the bullion Buffalo or the Proof?

Coin World just reported, 106,300 proofs sold as of July 5th. I think someone said 75,000 sold the first day.

and 110,000 Unc. sold as of July 5th.

    ALSO

The buffalo will be minted in 2007. the law states that the program is required to run 12 months, so after the 2006, there will be a 2007 Buffalo.

We'll, I thought they'd sell out, but a lower than expected Mintage is good too !!

This article regarded the proofs; The first day there 75,000; after another week another 25,000 or so; after another week another 12,000. Thus their comments about the number reducing by half as each week goes by.....

They made a statement that the US Mint shipped out 26,000 of the uncirculated buffalos to the authorized dealers so far in July. Perhaps the unc will be a better value!!

As the number of proofs declines the hype will start up about how they are going to mint far fewer than the 300,000 authorized and that t they are going to be modern rarities, and there will be an upsurge in orders from speculators.

    Nope.

As sales slow, the Mint will decide that it is not worth it to mint the coin for only 5 or 10 a week. They will stop suddenly and without warning. Then the Buffalo will take off

Everyone with $800 will buy theirs now. Next year another $800 flushed down that hole will be tough to come by. The winner will be '07's.... just like the 2001 Sacs are better than the 2000's.

Any chance the mint will raise the price of the proof?

Gold has gone up a lot since the release.

  • The Stampede will begin again if the Mint decides to raise prices. Otherwise, it may take longer than expected, but they will all be gone by next year !

The amazing thing is, there are several dealers offering $900 each for live proofs that can be overnighted to them. I blew off five of our first seven at that price, and sold another to a good, long-term customer at $850!

Go ahead hoarders and speculators - load up on those Gold buffs. I'll be patiently waiting to watch prices plummet when you all sell in a panic. And good luck in unloading them. I don't want any now and I won't want any then. image
  • Speculation, speculation, speculation, etc.....and so on and so on..............!!! I won't event begin to attempt a rebuttle on the future predictions about this "so called widget" modern bullion chunk of "semi precious" metal that has drawn so much attention on the CU forum. One of two things will happen and that is for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!! If the GB does not garner the sales that the mint has forecasted (pipe dreamed) that it would then there will not be a '07 BGPR however a BS strike may appear. The GE will continue it’s superiority in the bullion market with the GB slowly fading away like so many other attempts that have been made in the past on trying to replace the GE. I am 100% positive about one thing and that is I will be flamed for this post which is warranted and expected for sure. When the GBPR bullion disc is discontinued or shorted on the '06 strike and subsequently scrapped then and only then will the value of this attempt by the US Mint be realized in tomorrow's widget market. This will be the barometer that will indicate the level of success or failure of this gold disc, plain and simple. I personally like the PF version of this disc and its fututure potential but we all have our "uranus" opinons which has been quoted to be, "We are one or one surely imitates one, that is the question/fact?!??!"

Edited to add: imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage Who really knows???? Maybe the coin crystals can be tossed about to give all of us the assurance that we can predict the future....image

My Wife has them on our ebay store and while we were in Georgia for a couple of days, she sold 11 MS-70's and received emails and telephone calls asking for prices on what totaled almost 100 coins.

Pretty incredible activity. Almost makes me want to get involved.image
