How did I know? It's a "Type 1" Buffalo nickel which was only minted in 1913, the first year in the series. Type 1's can be identified by the design below the Buffalo. If he's standing on a mound, Type 1. If not, Type 2.

Not so. Any chance you can see a "D" or an "S" beneath FIVE CENTS on the reverse (as can be seen in the image of the Type 2 above)? If there is an "S", the coin is worth about $20.00. If there is a "D", the coin is worth about $5.00. If there is nothing visible, the coin is probably woth about $3.00.
