What U.S. rarities remain to be found overseas?

I'm currently reading Penny Whimsey (1958) and I've noticed Dr.Sheldon occasionally stating that such and such Large Cent variety had been found in England since the publication of his Early American Cents (1949). I realize both of these books are significantly dated, but it got me thinking that there might be American numismatic treasure waiting to be found overseas.

Aside from 1933 Double Eagles, anyone know of any rumors they'd like to share?

Too many Ameriicans looking. Perhaps a few undervalued Colonial era British/Irish coppers in Mint State -that have more interest here because they circulated. Some gold foeign issues too-but there's a lot of fakes and no TPGS.

What does the British Museum's collection of U.S. coinage look like?

You can get lots of trade dollars in China!!!image
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • In the past i know there were some 1916 DDO nickels that were found in Australia or New Zealand ( i forget which exactly) back in the 60s and 70s. I would imagine there might be more over there sitting in someones box of misc. foreign coins.

I'll bet there's a lot of rare U.S. coins in Cuba.
The island was run by the mob until Castro came to power and threw Batista and the mobsters out.
When relations with this island change, we may find a lot of numismatic suprises.
