Well, we have the Eliasberg G4 coin that recently sold at 11.5K, and the last Heritage AG3 at 8.6K. Both coins were acceptable for the grade.

And we have a lot of seated dime collectors who need the coin. "A lot" in seated collector terms is maybe 10-20 people. And I don't believe there are any others presently on the market (neither Dick Osburn or Brian Greer have one posted).

This new one is an interesting specimen, a G/VG obverse paired with a Fair reverse. Would you rather have this one or the last Heritage AG3 for the same money? It's a tough call. Because I can't decide myself, I am going to suggest that this coin is close in value to the last AG that sold. That was a $7500 hammer, and I expect this one to go around the same level.

I have spent a lot of time looking for one before I settled on the one I know I need to upgrade and post rewards several times trying to buy one.

I had Bid $10,000 on the PCGS 4 and did not get it.

Dick had a "problem coin" which had been sitting on his list for a while and sold right after the Pcgs coin sold for $10k.

I purchased a VF30 with some small issues but not too bad from a major dealer last month and I honestly think at under 10k it was a good deal

I saw the coin in the current heritage listing, after all the recent aggresiveness toward this date, I was thinking of aquiring one my self. Although I think I would rather try and find a fine, but it may be too high at this point. Of these two coins, I may actually have liked the anacs -3 that just sold a bit better than this current coin?? By the time that fortin goes to sell his fabulous CC dimes, they will be so high that it will take a mint to by one.

I await a comment from Barry. He is a market-maker for these, you know. image

I'm no longer a market maker in these. About 3-4 years ago, I owned 6 or them, which probably represents about 10% of the extant population. I recently sold one and believe it or not, now only own one - an NGC 53.

I didn't see any 74-CCs at the Baltimore show. Jim O'Donnell usually has one in his case, but not this time. He did have a nice 72-CC (MS62) which he's been trying to sell for several years. The market may finally be caught up to the price he's been wanting for it image

I don't see the any 74-CCs listed by Heritage. Please provide a link.

Thanks. I forgot about the preview section...

Decent looking coin for the grade. One advantage of the wear is the as-struck surface problems of this date are worn off.
I wouldn't be surprised if it goes for 9K with juice.

it is getting harder to value the problem coins.

A 72cc with an attempted hole in g/vg went off for problem free money. Are problem coins now worthy of problem free trends prices?
