New Jersey Quarter

I have 2 New Jersey Quarters here, they both have the same date, but one appeares to have a shine to it and the other is dull. Could the dull one have been made on different metal? I do have other Jersey quartes and they alll have a shine to them. Would like to know if anyone else has come across this difference. I am sorry if the scan isn't the best. Thank you.

Probably not. Planchet might not have been cleaned before minting. I have come across State Quarters with the same dull finish.

It's highly unlikely. Many different things can cause a brand new cu/ ni coin to
be dull. This is especially common in Philly issues. Worn dies or weak strikes
can cause this as well as numerous enviromental effects.

I'm thinking it spent too much time along the Turnpike in Secaucus. I also used to change colors when I had to go through there myself ;-)
    Philately will get you nowhere....
