    You cannot add declared value coverage to paper money or coinage when shipped through UPS. If it gets lot or stolen, there is no coverage.

    In lay terms....no insurance will be allowed on such items so UPS will not cover it if lost or stolen.

    UPS is a very lousy way to ship coins.

    Here is one example from their "terms and conditions"

    Commodities Handled
    Carrier holds itself out to transport general commodities, as usually defined, provided that, unless special arrangements are made with Carrier to which Carrier has agreed in writing, shippers are prohibited from shipping, and Carrier will not render service in the transportation of the following (collectively, "Prohibited Commodities"):

    (a) articles of unusual value, including, without limitation, (i) coins, currency, postage stamps, deeds, negotiable instruments (except checks), money orders, unset precious and semi-precious stones, and industrial diamonds; (ii) any article that contains more than fifty percent by weight of gold, silver, or platinum or any combination thereof in raw form, bullion, balls, bars, grains, strip, sheet, wire, chain, ingots and the scrap of these metals; and (iii) any package having an actual value of more than $25,000;

  • now i gota go to UPS and see if they have my package or returned it !

  • I have a real problem with UPS and their signature policies. Even if the shipper doesn't require an in-person signature, it is within the driver's discretion to require one. Which means if you're not home during delivery hours, and the driver feels like being difficult (which seems generally to be the case), the package gets shipped back to sender after the obligatory three failed attempts. USPS is just so much better . . . .

    Call your local office after the FIRST delivery attempt to arrange for pickup. Don't wait for them to get lucky and catch you at home or return it to the shipper.

    There's a coin on the way to me right now via UPS. Delivery date was 7.18, now rescheduled to 7.19. It would already be here if the seller had shipped it USPS.

    That's the one that's shipping mine.

  • I once won an eBay auction coin lot that consisted of 10,000 coins. That is the only coins that I have ever received through UPS.

    I bought 15,000 wheat cents from another board member and they fit into three of those ship-anything-for-about-eight-bucks boxes. USPS is the way to go for big lots.

    call 1800 pick ups have your notice ready the driver left, or go to ups.cpm and have the package fowarded to your work place enter the notice number and change the address, I have done this many times.

    and yes ups is not the way to ship coins, usps is best for sure.
