Last night one of the events for my buddy's bachelor party weekend was a Portland Sea Dogs AA baseball game (Red Sox)

That was the first time I have ever been to a minor league game and let me tell you what a blast it was. Everything about it was a great time, first off the tickets were $6 for adults, parking $5, the food was average I quess, like $5 for a sausage ect.. 4 of us went and we got out of there with each of us spending less than $25. The games were fun to watch (it happened to be a doubleheader for the price of one game) About 4 times during each game they would take time and have a little contest for kids and even adults to win prizes. The mascots were charging up the crowd even though we lost both games, GREAT TIME and a great place to go with the guys or the kids.

Hey Sox guys, the Sea Dogs were playing the Connecticut Defenders and nobody else but the "Steamer" Bob Stanley was skipper.

    Minor league games are a great alternative.

    Sacramento has a triple A team, and the facility is amazing...feels and looks a lot like a big league ballpark, and the enthusiasm level is amazing, too.
  • I enjoy minor league ball games better than major league games. These guys are out there playing for the big bucks, not getting paid the big bucks. In my home town we had a minor league(single A SAL) team and I'd go to 10-15 games per season. It's great to see some true potential as well as the fact that the players are hungry!

    I've been to maybe close to 100 minor league games; great prices(a whole 16 bucks for field level box seats, lol), and another thing I like to do is pick out guys I think will make it. It's also a much more personal atmosphere.
    Collecting;

    Agreed. Minor league games are a total blast. I go to the Long Island Ducks games maybe 7 or 8 times a year. Tickets are around $10, they sell out nearly every game. No bad seats in the house, completely fun and family oriented. Most games have great givaways, all have promotions where they get the children on the field for something, and many have fireworks afterwards. They just cant be beat. And oh, there is some great baseball played too !

    The Lakewood Blueclaws are right next to me (Phillies A ball). Ryan Howard played for them 3 years ago. Its a brand new facility, I love going when the Philly Phanatic is there. He is one funny mascot on that quad almost running over the oposing teams relief pitchers in the bullpen image
