CNA looking a big convention

The Canadian Numismatic Association expects its 2006 convention to be the largest it has ever held in its 55 years.
The show will be held Thursday-Sunday, July 20-23, at the Sheraton Fallsview Hotel & Convention Centre, 6755 Fallsview Blvd., Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.
John Regitko, general chairman of the show, said the Royal Canadian Mint has agreed to an unveiling during the convention. The RCM Web site says it will introduce its new mintmark at the show.
The CNA show is the highlight of the Canadian numismatic year. It has been held annually in various cities across Canada since 1954 – Canada’s oldest continuing numismatic event.
Dealers from across Canada and the United States will occupy more than 70 bourse tables with a great variety of numismatic material.
A number of Canadian numismatic specialty organizations will hold their annual meetings and conduct educational programs. These include the Canadian Numismatic Research Society, Canadian Paper Money Society, Canadian Association of Token Collectors, Canadian Association of Wooden Money Collectors, Canadian Tire Coupon Collectors Club, Canadian Numismatic Research Society and Medallic Art Society.
Sherman Zavitz, official historian for the City of Niagara Falls and the Niagara Parks Commission, will be the keynote speaker at the annual CNA convention banquet His presentation is entitled “Niagara Falls: The Weird and the Unusual.”
An educational forum at 3:30 p.m. will feature Chris Boyer, of Waterloo, Ontario, speaking on “Mountie Money” and Wendell Wolka, of Greenwood, Ind., on “Parallels in North American Banking: The Canadian-American Experience.”
Admission to the bourse is by registration or daily admission. Note that registrants are allowed entry one hour before the general public on Friday and Saturday, from 9 to 10 a.m. The daily admission charge is $5.
