    Such a deal...2700 for a common.

  • I still haven't totally figured out the vintage game. Why pay 2700 for a nobody? Yeah the card is 50+ years old and in great condition, but a star card in worse condition will have a much better long term appreciation, am I right?

I wouldn't even consider trying to build a high grade set from my favorite year image

    ToppsCo1lector,
The registry is partial to blame for this. You are absolutely correct about a vintage HOFer.
I would much rather have 3 T206 HOFer portraits, ( Cy Young Psa 4 $800,
Walter Johnson PSA 4 $800, Matty PSA 5 $1000) than a low pop common from any set.
Hey, I got $100 left over. How bout a M (3 fingers) Brown PSA 2 for my C note.
But, as always said on this board, "To each his own and collect what you like. Joe

Yep, I'm starting to look at the Registry, basically b/c I never really took the time to see what it was all about. I mean obviously, the goals were quite apparent to me but I failed to realize most of these collectors are very well off.

Well i am almost out of the game buying graded Rod Carew cards. I have definitely paid way over on several cards that don't even book due to the registry wars. But even i have my limit of insanity of what i am willing to pay.
