Isn't it nice Ebay is concerned about fraud?
I get this email from Ebay today (yes, it's legitimate):

Dear Ebay,
Thank you for your concern. I am pleased to see you are being vigilant regarding the potential for fraud. Since you invited a reply, I would like to bring to your attention that fraud is plentiful on Ebay. Perhaps you should worry a little less about losing a few transaction-related fees from off-Ebay deals and be more concerned with the rampant fraud from counterfeit items sold on Ebay. Specifically, I refer to US Coin listings. Almost EVERY listing from China for Silver Dollars (most commonly Trade Dollars and Seated Dollars) are Chinese-manufactured counterfeits. I know several individuals who report these to you regularly, thought it appears that little is done about it. I look forward to your reply.

Buying top quality Seated Dimes in Gem BU and Proof.
Buying great coins - monster eye appeal only.
Does this mean that if I use Paypal to pay for something that was never originally offered on ebay that it still isn't covered by any paypal protective services?

Trust me, they don't care where you purchased an item from, they really don't want to help you either way.
