    I can't see much more than 30k.

First, he didn't break any records by hitting it.
Second, who likes this guy enough to pay big money for his stuff?

McFarlane. Creator of the Spawn comics. He's bought the bonds single season record breaker, I believe the McGwire single season record breaker, and a couple others for big money.
    Collecting;
    Mark Mulder rookies
    Chipper Jones rookies
    Orlando Cabrera rookies
    Lawrence Taylor
    Sam Huff
    Lavar Arrington
    NY Giants
    NY Yankees
    NJ Nets
    NJ Devils
1950s-1960s Topps NY Giants Team cards

Looking for Topps rookies as well.

  • MacFarlane always wants the LAST ball of any significance. I dont think this has much more historical value than one passing Killebrew, Mantle,Schmidt or Mays, but if the price is right, who knows? I dont see why someone would want to use Ebay, unless they are changing the rules to allow bidding to continue if bids are still being received. I know that many times, alot of us would want to continue bidding on high ticket items after seeing what they were sniped at. Shelling out that much cash at one time, I think I would like a couple of minutes to recrunch some numbers in my head and come back with another figure, rather than just giving me until 9:03:57......

That is a super weak-point at eBay; and, not only
in Ultra-High end items. They said in Las Vegas that
they would be addressing it, soon.

I have lost many auctions with my own under-bid
snipes. MANY times I would have continued, if I
could have. eBay knows that they are losing on
    FV-fees due to this "flaw."

and you simply didn't bid more the first time because?

I would not be surprised if the final hammer is a major disappointment.

It's too bad also - since I believe Bonds had the capability of greatness without all the steroids.

Because I was "not caught up" in the "fever" that
can result once I see that I "am about to lose." The
one/two-minute extension will bring out that "fever" in
a lot of folks, and eBay (and sellers) will make more
    money, in some instances.

If there are no more bids after one/two minutes, the
auction is over at the last bid. This will/might negatively
impact sniper services, but not in a huge number of
    auctions.

I do not have a strong bias in favor of the scheme, but
I am not opposed to it either. The seller should be the
one to make the decision. (Sellers would pay a small extra
fee to eBay at the time of the listing to buy the "bid-time
    extension.")

  • Auction extensions on Ebay will never work. No other sites that uses extensions are sucessful. If you bid your max the first time you have no excuse to cry later because you did not win the item.

Here is an example of why extensions will not work:

Me and another buyer need the same card for the registry. I know he is going to bid on it, he knows I am going to bid on it. We both plan to snipe it bidding our max in the last few seconds. Now if there are extensions he may chose not to show his hand and not bid knowing there will be an extension. Now suppouse both of us know the extension is coming and chose not to bid. The auction then ends with no bidders. Ebay loses, Seller loses, and buyers lose.

Another reason is if Ebay did unlimited extensions I could see people playing games taking advantage of that.

Show me one instance where a sniper has costs Ebay or a Seller any money?? Fact is there are none. Snipers do nothing but increase the FVF.

I think McFarlane said that he would be willing to pay around $75,000 for it at some point.

Looking for Jonny Gomes cards, especially Triple Threads and printing plates. Will consider all cards, though. Got something? Contact me at c_u_l_1@yahoo.com
