  • I stinky with linky. Are you looking to grade the strip cards using PSA/DNA ? I have quite a few that i was thinking about grading and wondered how PSA handles strip cards very poorly cut. Can they go in the PSA/DNA holder ?

  • I too am not familiar with how they handle the strip cards. I did do some research on this set, and from what I found the Nap is one of the harder finds. Hey for $70 I figured what the heck.

  • CMS thought enough of it to take a shot at it. Should turn out to be a sweet deal........
  • worth a gamble. caramel cards are through the roof. By the looks of the card, it looks real and unaltered. but, then again the scan isnt great. the dealer doesnt seem to know how to list his cards...ignorance or trying to feign ignorance for the purposes of a scam?

let us know what happens when you get the card.
  • Yeah I'm not sure about that either, It is either a case of he does not know what he has, or he was trying to feign ignorance, lets hope its the first. I figure if I can get any grade out of this card I'll make a few dollars. Plus I did email him a question regarding condition. I asked if the card had any visible creased. He responded that the lower left corner has a small crease. In any case he got back to me promptly and seemed to answer honestly. Also at the bottom of his auction description he lists that he does accept returns. That in and of itself doesn't mean anything, but his answer and that return were enough for me to take a shot

  • he has a couple of other auctions for some very old stuff........one expires shortly.....any one looked at them?
  • I did look at his other auctions, based on what I see it looks like he just bought a box of stuff from a flea market or the like. I don't know maybe I'm just reaching there. I really hope this card is in authentic. I don't want to get the does not meet minimum size requirements not holdered. I don't like buying raw, and especially not on the bay. But here's hoping... Once I get the card, if someone is willing to help me out, I will be more than happy to scan it.

  • i did notice that one of his other auctions said" card was just returned from grading company" ...not sure what that means but it also said final sale.
  • I looked at all of his current auctions, and did not see that, which one were you looking at?

    << <i>Card is sold as is >>

What the heck does this mean?

Can't I have 'my' mechanic look at it first?

  • That was the second question I asked lol, but seriously what do you think for $70, worth a shot?

  • Allright, now I'm not fealing completely confident about this purchase. I won the item on the 12th, paid 2 seconds after auction close. I hadn't heard anything from the guy, so I just shot him an email to get an estimated delivery date.

    Hi,

Just wanted to see if you could give me an estimated delivery date?

    Thanks Alot

    Answer:

    Probably today or tomorrow...

It seems to me that I paid right away, he claims to want someone to be fully satisfied, and I get that answer. Now I know I am being impatient, but if I get this card and it is BS I can see me having a problem returning it. We'll see, Still trying to be optimistic.

jstriker, Sorry, I am just seeing this post now. I had a few questions for you.

    1) Do you own other caramel or pre war cards ? T206's etc?
    2) Have you ever handled a real one. Had it in your hand and felt it?
    3) If you answer no to both these questions, then my advise is buy a couple of commons from a reputable dealer that sells pre war cards.
    4) Don't start by buying HOFer's from people that claim they don't know what they have.
In this day and age, 1 ebay search for the un informed can yield a wealth of knowledge about how much their cards should sell for.
I don't by the playing dumb act 1 bit.
Sometimes you can score a nice card that everyone shied away from, but most of the time you bought a reprint.
If you like the caramel set, buygraded cards by the big 3. Its worth the peace of mind that you bought a real card.
If you want raw, buycommons and get to know how to spot a fake. Then push the button for HOFer's when you KNOW for sure they are real.
Good luck and hopw this deal turns out ok for you. Joe

Just a brief note. If you look back at some of his past auction, he had a bunch of cards returned "Questionable Authenticity". He was smart enough to send them in for grading, yet 90% of his auctions for pre war are raw. Not a good sign I'm afraid to say. Joe

A pushy, uninformed buyer who is nagging about delivery 30 hours after auction closed!

    No Thanks.

    Loves me some shiny!
  • seana sells doctored reprints and by his deceptive ads, knows they're counterfeit. Don't fall into his trap. I believe this is a new account for an old Connecticut eBay scammer that was run out of town some time ago -his old nickname eludes me at this time. My advice, run like Hell.

  • Looking back on the whole transaction, you are probably right, but I got the card, and I have to tell you, I'm 99.9% sure on this one. I felt it, I smelled it, I tasted it(could have used some salt). Its real, I'll send it in with my next submission and see what happens. I will get home tonight and see about scanning it. Gonna need some help with that one. Thanks for your advice.

  • Not trying to be pushy, just going out of town tomorrow, and my sister is going to check my mail for me. I asked for an estimated ship date, so that I had a rough idea of when I would receive the card so it wouldn't be sitting in the box all week. In his auction he clearly stated, he would email a delivery confirmation, I never got that, so I wanted to see when he would send it. Thanks for thrashing me... And I really appreciated being called uniformed.
