Are some silver bars worth more than other?

Lately I'm seeing sellers asking for premims on silver bars based on who refined it.....
or some sellers claiming there bars are scarce or rare
Is a Johnson matthey bar worth more than a sunshine mine brand?
if so......why?
why is a bar of silver rare or scarce or is just typical seller hype.....
any info would be greatly appreciated

  • From what I have seen the JM and Engelhard get .10-.15 more per oz, sometimes more. On Ebay they can go even higher. I think it is just hype because in the long run an oz. of silver is worth an oz. of silver, but name brand works best for most people on Ebay, Why? Dont know.

I pay a premium for earlier art bars as well as sterling art bar sets. I'm always looking to buy them in fact.

been my experience with the dealers in my local area anyway that they discount multiple oz bars off their daily strike price. They say they are harder to get rid of and would rather have 1 oz rounds or bars. Who'd a thunk....

The 10 oz ones are worth 10 times what the 1 oz ones bring. (Sorry!)
Give Blood (Red Bags) & Platelets (Yellow Bags)!
  • The heavier ones usually bring a premium !
