SGC/JSA slabs now come with advertisements INSIDE the slab...

Found this on the backside of my new Jackie Robinson slabbed auto.

I am completely speechless...

yes its ridiculous.. in SGC's defense though, this "cdifl" guy sells a TON of autographs, ive bought a few from him.. i think i even have one with his business card in it.. image i guess it's his way of advertising..

i have no idea where the dude obtained all his autographs, all i know is he has a ton, and he's sold a ton in the last coulpe years.. many on index cards, etc..

the first thing i wonder is how he got jackie robinsons autograph on his business card, seeing as how jackie died in the early 70's..

but i think "cdifl" might slap his advertisement stickers on the backs of these cards, then submit to SGC/JSA..

  • The only way I would accept that is if Jackie himself signed Ralphs business card. That is total BS.....

Is it me or does that Business Card look O/C?

  • To clarify.

There are 2 cards in the slab. The front one has the Jackie Robinson auto. The back one is the business card. They do not appear to be taped together.

is there a scan of the back of the slab in the auction?
  • Its bad enough to have to sit through commercials every time you watch a movie or video, but to include this IN with a card, taped, loose or otherwise is ridiculous. I'd rather have the PSA incapsulated pube than this.....

I was pretty po'd when I got some GAI graded packs with a Mr Mint commercial on the back of the flip, the "Mr.X" garbage on PSA's T206's was awful, but this is much worse. I'd be tempted to neg the seller if it wasn't disclosed. I"ll definitely neg JSA/SGC for this.
    Horrible.

  • If JSA is going to allow something as tasteless as that, I'm going to stick with PSA/DNA exclusively. I would be all over JSA and the seller if I received that item!!!!

That can just as easily happen in a psa holder, instead of knuckles putting stats on the back of his cards...he could just as easily include information about his adult entertainment business that he runs on the side.

  • I probably have over 150 slabbed psa/dna items, and thank god, non of mine contain a tasteless advertisement. Does the psa/dna example you talk of contain an advertisement from the same seller? If so, I guess the simple solution is never buy from that ebayer (I know I have in the past, so I must have been lucky)

On a side note, I wonder if my buddy Lawrence is still allowed to spam the other board with his junk! It's amazing how the mods want everybody to follow their rules, but they can't even follow their own!

AFAIK, citing that example, and Raymond forwarding my emails to the moderators is what led to my removal.

I went over there at the urging of JP and I saw more locks than at a NY deli.

FYI: I was not involved with your removal and I didn't forward your e-mails to the moderators. I still do not know why you were removed. But, keep in mind, you were sending the group e-mails to a mod, so it would have been pointless for me to do that to get you in trouble since you were already doing that yourself...

I HAVE a PSA slabbed autograph from this same seller, with the same insert included in the slab. Yes, it is the same dealer's business card included inside a slabbed autograph. I don't have a picture of it here (I'm at work now), but will try and post a picture of it. I got it probably close to a year ago, so this has been going on for a little while. And it was just as ugly then as it is now....

  • Just a quick point here - it is good to see some of the older Beckett MB guys finally posting on the CU boards. I sometimes browsed the "kiddie" boards, but never posted. They have their times, but more often than not, the conversations broke down into childish temper tantrums.

I believe Rich G visited KC awhile back and had some very nice things to say about our little villa! Welcome aboard Rich. (...I hope I have the correct Rich!)image

I was told that the business card was attached/adherred to the autograph, and that SGC/JSA would not slab anymore like this.

Thanks! Yep, I visted some time ago, and it was a blast. With regards to the other board, WAY TOO MANY kids hang around there. However, there are a handful of good people (Raymond, Glyco, Sean, POH, The Next Level, Soccer, etc..). With this said, even though I miss a few of my "hobby buddies", I don't miss the kiddie board one bit.

Griffins: I hope what you say is true, and I hope the people from PSA/DNA are taking notes.

Thank you for the invite pandrews. I dont really know what to make of it but I cant say that I really care for it either. When I have an answer, you'll be the first to know. Perhaps you could send me your home phone number and I can call you directly, since we're such good pals and all.
