Home Sports Talk

Two quick and early all star observations...

1) Arod had a lot of boos, so it transcends many fans, with salary/greed presumably being the primary cause.

2) They are wearing their own uniforms instead of the stupid NL or AL team uniforms of years past. This simple thing makes it feel more like an All-Star game, and reminds me of downgoesfrazier 1977 All Star game team photo. I don't think they wore their own uni's last year, did they?

  • And Kudos to Carrie Underwood for doing a nice clean rendition of the anthem...none of that Fantastia garbage. Plus Underwood is most worthy of getting the Scuba gear on!

Anyone who boos AROD because of his salary is a stinking pinko communist plain and simple.

AROD is worth whatever amount a team pays him.

i'm not a communist, but you've got to ask yourself is a guy who plays a game (or really anyone in entertainment) really 600 times more valuable than a teacher or policeman or 150 times more valuable than a doctor?

i'm not a historian, but i don't think entertainers have always been paid ridiculously more than everyone else. why is entertainment hundreds of times more valuable than innovation?

I don't recall any A-list actor being booed because of their salary.

A-Rod missed a grounder in the first. Bobbled another one just now and had it not been for Ortiz, would have had a big E on his boxscore.

Great to see him showcasing his superior fielding skills.

A-Rod never forced anyone to pay him the salary he's making. You'd have to blame that hypocrite Hicks for that. I think it was like one year later that he also started whining about escalating salaries. What a joke! I can't fault these guys for getting as much as they can. Look what happened to Brien Taylor. He's still driving the car he bought with the signing bonus the Yankees gave him and working construction for like $12 an hour.

Well, of the 11 regular 3rd basemen in the A.L. he is ranked 10th, or by Axtells new mathematics he is 2nd.

After some research, I've decided that A-Rod is too good just to be rated 1st. He deserves his own, special category like.. Ultimate Fielding Extrodinare A # 1.

If you disagree, then you are still a hater and other negative things image

AL wins again, proving their superiority to the weak NL.

  • Each year the NL finds a new way to lose... This year the FU award goes to Hoffman.
  • Appears that my Tigers will now get home field advantage in the World Series!!!

I agree with you completely but 99% of the board members on here will keep forking out $80 for tickets. Until that stops, the AROD's of the world will keep pulling down $25 mil a year. I think it's all ridiculous.

shouldn't all the Arod bashing and defending move over to the "feel free to be clutch" thread?
