Grade my card, anyone???

Sorry to do this guys, but I'm curious what you all think about the grade on this. I'll probably send it in someday, when I feel my bad luck streak has gone away image

But until then, what do ya think. These pics were taken in the direct sunlight, I don't think that was a good idea. I had to darken them in order to see the pen marks on the back.

Can't remember how much of this damage was caused by me, but I remember the small piece on the bottom left corner was on the card when I got it.

  • Look at the name of the player. I'd get it graded simply so it's encapsulated if for no other reason than for authentication/verification purposes.

    I'm thinking a straight 3 or a 4(MK)
  • That card belongs in a holder, regardless of grade. I see a tape mark on the back--how much does that drop the grade?
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Looks like a 4 to me. I would not accept it with a MK (mark) qualifier - if they assign one, based on what I can see in the scan, break it out and resubmit. You may need to submit it a couple times to get the 4 with no qualifiers, but it's well worth it for that card.

Might want to consider SGC for this one actually. They do a better job on these type cards and you won't have to worry about any qualifiers.

I would not worry about the grade.
More important to get it authed and
    put in a nice holder.

Might be called a "stain" might be called a "mark."
It looks like there is "considerable" paper-loss.
    Could be a 1/2/3; probably gets a Q, regardless.

VERY cool looking card. Holder that thingy.

How does one make sure they are getting a real one? Just curious.

I think I can be sure it's not a fake, I bought it from a Vancouver comic shop in 1978 and the guy had piles and piles of sports cards. Of all the c56s and c55s, I singled out the Vezina only because my cousin (shortly before our trip) was telling me that he would win the Vezina trophy someday, and he was saying stuff??? about Georges Vezina so I knew the name.

When I asked the guy why they cost so much he said they were antiques image I paid $15.

I was barely 12 at the time.

    EDITED: Thanks guys

Not expecting much, but I sure hope it will grade higher than this card I found on ebay. Maybe the back is really clean image

I'll say 2MK or 3MK. It looks like the kinda card that gets a low technical grade but whose eye appeal blows away similarly graded cards. Unless you're selling - and maybe even if you are - I'd keep it raw.
