Silver was up nearly 2.5% and is now down and dropping like a rock. Gold was up 2% and is no near the previos NY close. Platinum was up 1.5% and is still up about 1%.
NY Gold is currently testing yesterday's high, being less than a buck off of it. Silver and Platinum are bith up but not approaching their highs yet. Oil is probably going to give Gold support for a decent gain today.
I don't think that the prices will stay high forever. However, in the long term, it should help elevate coin prices as it brings numismatic awareness to the masses while the metal prices are high. And, in doing so, a certain percentage of the metal player will become afflicted with the bug. And, as you know ... once afflicted, there is no turning back!
Silver and gold performed well in Hong Kong and are doing well in London so far today. I doubt the world affairs that are driving things are going to be resolved very soon.
