The OFFICIAL futbo........urrrrr FOOTBALL SMACK THREAD 2006

joestalinjoestalin Posts: 12,473 ✭✭
Thats right girls, futbol and all its dives and card throwing is over, this is the season for the only real sport. FOOTBALL...and with that
goes my professional season preview. In the past I have charged money for this, but you pansies need all the help you can get! Also
feel free to add a little smack with your posts, unless you can't, in which you better hit the sideline, suck your thumb and watch the
pros.

In case you think I don't know what Im talking about, let me introduce myself.....back in 2002 I predicted a Bucs championship...in case
you forgot what happened that year, they bucs not only won everything, but rolled through the playoffs not even breaking a sweat!
Last year my Bucs were left for dead at the beginning of the year, while everyone was picking them to finish 5-11 at best...you remember
who you are all! All you Falcon bandwagon jumpers, probably all now on the Panthers wagon this year...anyways..I was the only Bucs
fan to tell you they would go way better than 5-11.. What more do you need?? what..... expert picks.....well ok then!

AFC East...The patsies have been feeding on this weak divison for years now...good for them that they the other 3 teams still suck, bad
for them is that they have to play other teams. Didn't I say the Brady era was over last year......no charge!

AFC North...Yeah so the Squeelers got one...big deal, it took a cheap shot to Palmer to get you there...enjoy that "ring". The buc..urrrr bus
stops here. Shut down fast Willie Parker....one year wonders won't get you wins. Oh and who can cover 85 in '05....who cares if you have no
one to throw it to you....Even old man McNair will take you deep!

AFC South....will Peyton Manning take over Dan Marino's spot as the greatest QB never to win a ring...no, cause Marino is greater. If you can't
win with Marvin, Edge, Reggie and kick butt defense, then you will always be known as Archie's kid. Jags will finally get over the hump
and win this division.

AFC West...I like to call this the no defense league, and that only means one thing....couch time come January. Nice fantasy football league
though.

NFC East....This seems to be a popular divison..Im not sure why, these guys haven't won jewelry since Cool and the Gang was cool. The Giants
are once again a waste....Eli has only half of the ability of Peyton and thats not even good enough. The Tuna is pumped about digging up
old man TO,but we all know he can't win the big game. The Skins might win a few, but what are the chances that Moss has that huge of a
year again......ZILCH......is there another team in this divison.......can't remember...oh well, not important

NFC North..and to think, this was once the best divison in football and on here the most loved...now its just a joke...Minnysota once again
will choke..they haven't recovered after that Arizona debacale a few years ago. Favre is done done done. Detroit is once again a joke
led by a joke. The Bears will be on everyone's hit list..d or no d.

NFC South....I was looking at the list of hardest schedules and I noticed that #1 and #2 were from this divison...you might think well yeah
both the Bucs and Panthers killed everyone last year..the only flaw to that is that #1 are the Saints and #2 the Bucs....its funny that
teams like Seattle, New England, and Chicago are at the bottom...oh well, thats ok. This divison has once again proved that it is the power
divison. 3 of the 4 team in this divison have been to the super bowl in the past 5 years...with the Bucs winning it. I think Carolina will once
again be tough, but there is one problem, they have to play the Bucs! The Bucs will once again dominate on the defensive side of the ball, but
this time the O will match that. The O line is fixed and Simms has finally gotten his head screwed on straight! and you may ask..who is their
backup..who cares! Simms won't even have to wash his jersey this year it will be so clean.........oh and you say, what was that blur that just
ran across my screen.....that was a Caddy running through your defense! You heard it here first..Bucs take home Ring #2 next February!

NFC West....Im hoping for one thing.....a Kurt Warner injury...I would LOVE to see pretty boy Leinart get in the game and prove what a sham
he is. This aint Hawaii Matt! Shaun is nice, but Seattle got very lucky last year...it won't happen like that again....well they do play Arizona
and San Fran, so who knows.

There you go girls. The smack has been thrown down. Bring it strong or slide under the bed and save yourself 6 months of hurt. I have been the
only Bucs fan here for over 5 years now, you know what means. REPRESENT....and bandwagon fans WILL be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the
law!!

It'd help if Simms had someone else to throw to besides the aging Galloway. Those 12-22 for 167 yds 1 TD & 1 INT won't win a lot of games otherwise. The D looks pretty decent, though. Good luck!

Anyone else going to some NFC East games? I'm going to both Skins/Giants games, and hopefully both Giants/Eagles games(The game at the Meadowlands is a done deal, I'm just hoping a certain SoFl Philly fan will let me get them tix!). I also might go to the Giants at Falcons game, since my Pops and older brother live in the Atlanta area...not sure about that one though.

Let's face it, the Giants offense is looking potent. I don't believe the apparent "rift" between Plax and Eli, Plax is/was training with the MIA boys with Jeremy Shockey. Now they added Sinorice Moss who will HOPEFULLY fill that #3 reciever(Amani in the slot maybe?); I like the pick a lot especially with it coming in the second round.

Eli has the patented Manning happy feet. It's sad to see, but he's still onehelluva talent that has only 1 full season starting under center. He'll continue to improve and with the addition of Lavar Arrington, Sam Madison, Will Demps, and my sleeper pick for the Giants Gerris Wilkinson(Who imo will be a starter along with LA and Pierce before the season is done) the defense also took a HUGE step in ridding the secondary of Will Allen.

I can't wait for the season to start!

Clayton had a grand total of 32 catches and ZERO TDs during 14 games played in the regular season. I'd hold off on the All-Pro vote just yet.

First, why did this short sentence need an edit?
Second, who was voting him all pro?
Third, he had a fantastic rookie year, then a sophomore slump. I think we'll see a season more resembling his first year than last.
  • The Cowboys will be a force to be dealt with this year!!! They need two things on Offense. The O-line to give Bledsoe time to throw and Terry Glenn to stay healthy. The defense will only get better. They were learning the 3-4 last year and played a lot of young guys. This year they should be a lot better. Parcells has just about finished his overhaul of this team. The Cowboys will take their spot back on top of the NFC east and NFL. I think Simms will be a one hit wonder. Teams now have tape to watch and study him. He didn't do much last year. Can't wait for Thanksgivin Day so you can see what a real defense looks like Joe!

    No smack.... Just Facts.

Portis shatters the single season yardage record. Chris Cooley makes the Pro Bowl and Gates, Gonzalez and Shockey are all spotted buying Cooley jerseys on eBay. Mark Brunell (or Jason Campbell .. it doesn't really matter) snatches the MVP award by throwing huge TD passes all season long to a constantly rotating core of wide receivers. The press will use the words "The new greatest show on turf" to describe the way The Skins new attacking offense is picking apart defenses. Brandon Lloyd, Santana Moss, David Patten and Randel El will be on ESPN highlights every week ... making one-handed TD catches and running their new trick plays.

Of course, there will be all of the usual awards that come along with a dynasty season; Coach of the year, Offensive and Defensive Coaching awards, Super Bowl Trophy, entire team makes the Pro Bowl, etc.

It will certainly be hard to watch if you're a Cowboys, Giants, or Eagles fan. T.O. will probably tear apart the Cowboys when he starts crying about not being used correctly and how the rest of the team isn't trying hard enough. LaVar Arrington will be the big bust for the Giants as he blows his coverage constantly trying to showboat. Of course McNabb, will just be the usual McNabb ... and we'll have to wait and see what excuse he comes up with this year for his losses.

    So, don't say I didn't warn you ....

    Hail to the Redskins!

  • ^^I live about 10-15 minutes from FedEx Field. The Skins have the third best core of recievers behind the Cowboys and Giants in the division. Joe Gibbs is still not high on Campbell, as he's still the third QB on the depth charts. Hopefully though he'll be moved up and if Brunell flounders I can see him in as starter by week 6.

I'm really happy the Gmen got "Mr. Nickles", the difference is the Giants have an actual passrushing D-line so he won't get as much attention as he did in DC.

  • LMAo.. here is joey providing some of his typical "expert" predictions and bs. How did that do for you last year joey? The Pats will prove once again that they are a championship team, and lil Joey will once again go hide in the closet once the Bucs get spanked.

You obviously live too close to Mayor Marion Berry's house ... and that crack cocaine smoke has started to take it's toll on you. image

I think you could debate that the Skins even had a better core of receivers last year ... when the only guy that could catch the football was Moss. With the new edition of Lloyd this year, along with Patten finally healthy, Thrash actually knowing our playbook, and Randel El thrown into the mix for the occassional trick play ... how are you going to stop that? Not to mention Cooley and Portis catching a few here and there too.

Although, if you only live 10 minutes from FedEx field, I imagine you'll be a believer by the end of the year ... when you've had to replace the windows in your house so many times from the deafning noise level of the fans singing "Hail to the Redskins" over and over again on Sundays!

wow, do we actually have a Redskin fan here this year? Now we have all 4 of these loser teams represented. Do I need to remind
you what Portis did in the first half of the season.....NADA! and I know, he was my fantasy RB. I look for that same production over
the whole year....maybe a few break out games against the CGirls or Eagles, but other than that, NOTHING.

The Giants do have some talent but for some reason have never put it together. Caughlin is just too much of a hard *ss. These sissies
want to be pampered and when they get yelled at they get mad and pout.

I totally forgot about the Eagles and with good reason....they will be downright terrible this year.....the Phillies have set the bar pretty low, but
the Eagles will be the new low benchmark!

I can see where Patsies fan would be confident, you play a wuss schedule once again, but thats ok, some wild card power is going to knock
    you off this year!

    Well Joe,

At least you had one moment of clarity last year!

I hope for your sake, that you're in a keeper league ... as the new offensive scheme will not force Portis to try and run like John Riggins again this year. He's back down to his speed weight and will become the type of back he was always meant to be.

You'll see the big difference, when he's blowing past that tired out Tampa defense.

Oh I definetly don't wear my Giants jerseys out around SouthEast. But I have 4 different NYG's baseball caps that I wear daily. Yup the Bucs did win their division last year. Unlike Joey, i give credit where credit is due.

Joey, remember last year when you said the Pats played a wuss schedule, or something along those lines, then i proved you wrong and showed that the Pats played more winning teams than the Bucs?? Do i have to pull that out again?? Gawd, you repeat the same garbage, then the Bucs lose and you go hiding. Sorry what was that score in the Bucs Pats game?

As a New York Jet fan I am a little dissapointed that they only get to play the Bucs in the pre-season opener. Last year the highlight of the season was when 100 year old Vinny Testeverde came out of retirement and dismantled the Bucs D. Of course, who could forget the "flashlight" gane in 2000 when Chrebet outshone Keyshawn in another Jets victory over the Bucs. Playing the best team in football twice every year in the AFC East is tough but I am cautiously optimistic - nothing like bringing in a Bill Belichek disciple to get the hopes up.

I like the Jets, but lets be honest, they suck ass. Pennington is a friggin joke and should just retire.

I don't think Seattle is the best team in the NFC, I doubt they'll make it back.

Pittsburg (my favorite team) is also a big question mark. I hate to say it but I feel that losing Bettis will impact them a lot. Parker just can't fill his shoes.

Pats, f 'em, always hated the Pats, always will.

I think the team to watch out for is the Dolphins. I would feel comfortable saying that they could represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. If they can get all their pieces to work together, they might be very very good.

Cardinals also have a chance to improve greatly, but not enough to start talking championships.

Bengals should be very good again.

I can't see the Colts being any better either. Losing Edge is very big. Colts fans will put an optimistic spin on it, but I think they're best years are behind them.

I like the Broncos chances, but I don't think Tatum Bell is as good as their previous RB's.

Vikings should suck something awful this year.

I think the Cowboys should take their division and they could possibly make a run at the whole thing.

    Eli sucks, so far anyways.

Bears got lucky, I doubt they'll win that much again.

Ravens, hhmmm. That's a tough one. Should be at least a decent team, not great though.

And the Bucs, get real. The only thing they're winning this year is a plane ticket home in late December.

All the other teams that normal suck bad, will suck bad again. 49ers, Texans, Saints etc...

But while we're talking...until the Eagles can beat the Bucs again, Bucs get trash talking rights...those are the rules. I didn't make 'em. When the Bucs close down the Vet, and open the Linc, devastating the Eagles and their weary fans both times, well, you don't get to talk anymore.

When the Eagles win a super bowl, you can talk.

Hell, when they finish above .500 you can talk again.

And as much as I wish my house did have a basement, very few homes in the valley have them.

Would love to make it, but not in the travel plans this year.

When you stop living in the past we'll welcome you to the real world.

I'll take the Eagles record of consistent success over the Bucs any day. You'll be crying about injuries and giving us other weak excuses by Thanksgiving.

Of course a visit to Tampa isn't in your travel plans. You don't have the cahones.

Well of course you don't want to live in the past - a 6-10 record will do that to you. But how many times did we have to hear how 'great' the Eagles were because they went to 4 straight NFC championship games?

You sound like stown, now, with your flip flopping.

What consistent successes have the Eagles had that the Bucs haven't? I seem to recall doing a head to head recap of their records over the past decade, and the Bucs actually came out ahead. How successful have the Eagles really been, if they haven't won the super bowl? Or are you one of those guys who thinks that 'almost' is good enough?

<< <i>Of course a visit to Tampa isn't in your travel plans. You don't have the cahones. >>

What cahones would be needed to come to Tampa? You live there, don't you? How tough an area could it possibly be if YOU live there?

No, don't live in Tampa. 125 miles away. Wasn't talking about the area being tough. The subject is you not having the guts to show up at a game. Be a real fan.

Almost is good enough? No. Just know and practice what it takes to be a real fan. You do not. We have proven that time and again. Your jealousy of those who are fans of their hometown teams is obvious. We in turn rattle your cage on a regular basis.

    Eagles go 10-6 or better.

Bucs do not make the playoffs.

You of course will not have the guts to put anything on it.

When the Bucs are out by Thanksgiving we'll have to read your pathetic spin, with stats claiming that the Bucs are really the best in the NFL.

Today is what matters. This season is what matters, and the Bucs are in trouble. Cap wise they are in bad shape.

The Eagles meanwhile made some smart free agent acquisitions, drafted very well and had the money to pay contracts. More moves will happen before the season.

Take a cue from Mommy and become a 49ers fan. She's got class. You are an opportunist. Perhaps Mommy has something to do with why you do not like the 49ers?

Bet you hype different teams on other boards to play it safe don't you? On this board what teams are the favorites of your alts?

You need to quit drinking before you post...Eagles going 10-6 this season just isn't going to happen. Them finishing 7-9 or 8-8 at best is more likely. Washington, Dallas, and NY all have superior teams. The Eagles will be cellar dwellars again. What will your spin be then?

"TO is distracting our team! wahh"? Like last year?

<< <i>You of course will not have the guts to put anything on it. >>

Already offered sig line bets, which is the SOP for this board...or are you afraid to make that bet?

<< <i>When the Bucs are out by Thanksgiving we'll have to read your pathetic spin, with stats claiming that the Bucs are really the best in the NFL. >>

The Bucs won't be out by thanksgiving, but, if they are, I will say they aren't the best team in the NFL. Deal?

<< <i>Today is what matters. This season is what matters, and the Bucs are in trouble. Cap wise they are in bad shape. >>

Really? How's the cap matter if today is what matters? Cap problems? Really? So next year when they want cap space they can't just cut dead weight? This isn't baseball ya know, contracts aren't guaranteed. I see a team that went 11-5 last year returning their starters and only getting better on the O-line, and the dominating defense that has been copied around the league only getting better as well.

<< <i>The Eagles meanwhile made some smart free agent acquisitions, drafted very well and had the money to pay contracts. More moves will happen before the season. >>

They have money, but who'd they give it to? Brian Westbrook? An aging kicker? bwahaha thanks for the laugh...the eagles front office epitomizes 'we don't know what the hell we're doing'.

<< <i>Take a cue from Mommy and become a 49ers fan. She's got class. You are an opportunist. Perhaps Mommy has something to do with why you do not like the 49ers?

No, lots of people around here are 49er and Raiders fans.

<< <i>Bet you hype different teams on other boards to play it safe don't you? On this board what teams are the favorites of your alts? >>

For the tenth time, no alts...when I want to trash talk, I do so under this name, no others. The only team I hype is the Bucs. When have I ever had a problem telling you exactly how I feel?

For a team that absolutely STUNK last year, you sure do run your mouth a lot. For a team that's NEVER won a super bowl, you sure do run your mouth a lot. For a team that's been run out of the vet and had the linc opened with a shutout, you should show the Bucs more respect.

Perhaps when the eagles get their teeth kicked in this year you'll finally admit defeat?

Once again you're more informed than everyone else in the NFL. Most coaches would take Akers over their own kicker and rate him with Vinatieri. 32 is aging for a kicker?

The Vet and Linc stuff? Come back to 2006 Ax. I know your nipples get hard every time you type it, but we have no desire to share your meager experience.

Never won a SB? Here's some history for you which of course you will spin to no effect. The NFL Championship existed before the Super Bowl. The first several SBs were not NFL Championships, but a game between the NFL and AFL to determine who was better. When the NFL and AFL merged into today's league ('69, '70?) the SB then became a true NFL Championship. The Eagles have won the NFL Championship.

If you would like to set some date in pro football history where records do not matter, then I'd like to know which dates in the MLB, NBA and NHL do not matter either. Perhaps then we'll have a better insight into your warped mind.

I'll take the Eagles every day, and this year you would be better off taking the Niners.

Wow, I got you so worked up you posted twice!

Let me quote what YOU said:

    << <i>Come back to 2006 Ax. >>

Remember that one, champ? You want to discount the Bucs' winning the division last year and winning the super bowl a few years back, but you want to go back to the per-merger days and thump your chest about the eagles winning a championship?

Please quote me correctly. I never said the eagles never were champs, I said they were never were SUPER BOWL CHAMPS. Why are you trying to spin this? It's simple: Bucs have won the super bowl, eagles haven't. Why is this simple fact so difficult for you to comprehend? For all your blustering about how storied the eagles franchise is, about how they have cap space, and they are smart with their players, blah blah blah. They just can't seem to close the deal. Hurts, don't it?

The only things the eagles will be seeing in january is the beach as they start their vacation yet again without winning the super bowl.
