I wish there was a way to block the Comments box when people pay with Paypal.

Now I realize that the people that send stupid comments have, at one time or more, had a bad experience but I have one bidder that sends the same canned response each and every time they win.

I rec'd a new one tonite, from a new person, that's not quite as friendly as most....

<< <i>I paid for shipping insurance, please make sure that you ask for it at the post office. Also please include an invoice for prompt feedback. Thanks >>

I wrote her back and told her

<< <i> I'm not sure why the "short" note about insurance or telling me to include an invoice is necessary. You were provided an invoice the nite the listing ended and If you pay for insurance you will receive insurance. >>

I'm going to go off one of these nites.image

  • Many sellers simply charge 3-4 dollars and all I recieve is(if I'm lucky) a sealed bubble mailer with a stamp on it. Many times(in the past 3 months, around 7 times) I paid for shipping/handling + insurance/DC only to see a plain old bubble mailer with some stamps on it in the mailbox when it arrives. I don't get pissy about it, b/c as long as my card comes and is in the condition I believe I paid for I'm more than happy.

my listings clearly state how I ship and that insurance is at USPS cost.

When I invoice I always list it on there at cost (and optional up to 100.00).

I just get tired of people treating me like I'm 8 years old and can't read solely because they've run into people that fit that description.

The scumbags that overcharge exhorbant amounts for shipping and cut corners on it exist also with coins and I have run across a few in my day. I don't deal with them ever again if they hose me on shipping.

But I am glad I was told to ask at the Post office......I was planning on asking at McD's in the morning.
  • lol, don't take what I said personally. I'm just speaking from personal experience and the only time I use that comment box is to thank the seller for the auction, otherwise it's quite pointless in my opinion.

    I say....

    Mess with her head.

Send her an empty mailer with an invoice and no insurance.

Then 3 days later send her the real deal and tell her that you sister mails your stuff and her instructions got her confused!

Gotta admit, pandrews made me laugh, too.

I get notes like this now and then, and my first reaction is the same as yours. When I think about how some people have shipped cards to me, though, I can understand why a buyer might start giving everyone explicit instructions. I've even done it myself, with a guy who sold me nice raw cards in the past but who had stuffed them all into a bubble mailer.
  • The helper notes are nerve wracking. But not near as bad as some-one who mails you the Payment, and Packaging material with instructions.. unbeknown. Grrrr

Goose -- I've just spent the last 20 minutes composing an empathetic diatribe on this subject, but I've decided to spare you and everyone else the long read and shorten it down to this:

I've been there, and I feel your pain.

Then there is a "foolish person" who after I paid for insurance.....sends me a $400 card with just stamps on a padded envelope , no insurance and no delivery confirmation...........

...if I wanted to I could claim I never got the card and file a claim with paypal......a good chance he would be S.O.L.

I sometimes comment that I'm always looking for PSA graded cards of a certain player and a quik thanks. And I have to say it has paid off, for both me and the seller image

If they dont leave the comments on paypal they will find another way.

Tonight I had someone win a lot of cards from me and he sent me an email which included a lengthy paragraph about his job, when he is getting paid, where he is going to work the next week, and so on. That ended in him telling me he wouldnt be able to pay through paypal until the end of next week. Next paragraph was him asking in detail how long it would take for me to ship the cards to him once he did pay. After that was a few sentences asking if the cards were being shipped in plastic. Finally he was nice enough to write another lengthy paragraph explaining his collecting interests and would I have this and that and the other thing available to sell him.

I had to laugh it off, and in the end probably wont even answer the email. I know from experience that if I do it will only set off a chain reaction of 12 other questions.

Often I pay for insurance and do not receive it. I think her statement is a friendly reminder.

Items can be insured other than through the USPS, and when they are, are not marked "Insured."
