lastings milledge or delmon young?

play the modern card investor...if you had to choose between the two players mentioned in the subject line, milledge or young, to have a marked increase in their rookie cards, which player would that be and why?

I would choose Milledge for a differing reason then the recent bat throwing incident by Delmon Young. Look at the market Milledge plays in compared to Young...
  • Delmon Young. No doubt his cards will drop this season b/c of his lack of playing, and some "prospectors" will write him off for a bit. I figure him to be a better investment. While Milledge was moved down to make room for Cliff Floyd and it's a real possibility that Milledge will be on the postseason roster. Just my .02.
    Collecting;
    Mark Mulder rookies
    Chipper Jones rookies
    Orlando Cabrera rookies
    Lawrence Taylor
    Sam Huff
    Lavar Arrington
    NY Giants
    NY Yankees
    NJ Nets
    NJ Devils
1950s-1960s Topps NY Giants Team cards

Looking for Topps rookies as well.

Milledge, because the Delmon Young market has already been "demolished." image

    Milledge.

His cards are cheaper right now and have a lot more room to go "up" and he plays in New York.

Young stuff is still pretty high and to see the same percentage or dollar gains in his stuff is going to much harder than with Milledge. My thought process being, if Milledge cards are $100 right now, how conceivable is it they'll hit $200? vs. Young who has several $200-$500 cards, what are the odds they'll double or even make 20-50% gains to get you the same $100 return?
  • What Josh said!
I can't remember a time when we've had so many quality, legitimate young ballplayers.

Milledge didn't show me much with the big club, and his minor league numbers aren't all that either. Delmon is without question the better prospect.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

Delmon Young throws bats at umpires and his older brother is currently in rehab.

That should answer your question for you.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • i'm gonna go with lastings milledge because i hear the delmon young secondary market has been demolished. image
  • young's bowman auto rookies are still going at 100 dollars a piece. im not sure what the high is for these cards, but $100 isnt chump change for a unproven prospect. milledge's auto rookies are going half the price at $50.
  • Don't foget that when millege got drafted out of HS he was facing stat rape allegations. Both of these guys are high risk because of their off-field risks. Young could be the next T.O. and Millege could be the next Darryl Strawberry. Great players who will be great if they stay out of trouble. If you wanted to go really high risk/reward you could go with Elijah Dukes.
