Poor quality pics, but looks like a nice coin:

    I smell a rat.

Seller "3clockguys" sells antique clocks, professionally graded sports cards, and now currently, some high-grade PCGS coins.

No bids at all on this coin until 4 days and 19+ hours have elapsed on a 5-day listing.

Then "greyshire1" pipes in with an opening bid, and less than an hour later "nutsforclocks" (note similarity to seller's userID?) outbids him.

Same userID has bid on some of the other coins seller has up for auction.

The winning bid history for "nutsforclocks" includes several auctions from "3clockguys" but they are ALL graded sportscards. In fact, NONE of the winning bids in the feedback history for "nutsforclocks" show anything BUT sports cards.

All of a sudden he's branching out into high-grade British coins?

    Can you say "shill bidding?"

Needless to say I've withdrawn my snipe... especially since the seller only accepts checks and money orders... no recourse.

I agree - this sounds like a textbook example of shill bidding. Its a shame given the nice quality of the coin.

If it looks like a rat and acts like a rat......
