Anyone know of a website that will

allow you to pay for a money order with your credit/debit card and then ship to the desginated party? This may not even exist, but was thinking about this today b/c I hate going to the PO or bank to get said item.

I am afraid that one is a pipe dream.

But, there is a viable solution. My friend has been
doing it for years and it works great:

Buy $1000 worth of money orders denominated
mostly in Hundreds and Fifties. You can alter those
numbers if you know what your usual purchase
    range is going to be.

When you buy something, use the in-hand money
orders to get close to the amount due, and add
a little bit of cash to make up the difference.

My friend has never lost a cent doing this. But, you
do have to account for the extra expense of buying
the MOs, unless you can get them free at your bank.

Also, travelers checks work well with sellers who know
you. They are free at many banks - if you have certain
kinds of accounts - and AAA still has no-fee TCs.

I always thought Paypal should offer this service (and mail to the ebay seller - I'd pay $1.50). Am sure they are afraid of money laundering, but should be available to business or high volume users (or powersellers).

  • Do you mean like BidPay? (www.bidpay.com)

I haven't used it in years, but before PayPal became big, that's exactly how it worked..

Nope. Western Union just decided to end the service, then sold off the properties to it. The site is back now, with a new owner and payment arrangements.
